Post your LIFTED pix here!

You don't have to be a member to get a sticker. Just be aware that the sticker says "Canada Toyota 4WD Association CT4WD.com" on it. Here's mine along with the Overland Warehouse 2.0 kit and 285/70/17 Duratracs.

We sure are getting a substantial Canadian contingent here on t4r.org, eh.

M. .. your 4runner is looking fabulous with the OW suspension and 285 Duratracs!:thumb3:

I spent a lot of time researching suspension for the 5th Gen 4Runner. My intent is to build my 4Runner into an expedition rig and I was hoping to keep the suspension lift height to a minimum while increasing the load-carrying ability of the suspension. I first considered the simplicity of OME suspension but while that could be ordered with various spring rates to match my intended load, it would give 3" of lift when unloaded which was an interference fit with my garage door.

After many exchanged emails with Andries Engelbrecht at Overland Warehouse, I finally decided to get their custom-valved Radflo coilover suspension kit with 2.5" shock absorber bodies. I further customized the rear suspension by not ordering the rear coils in the Overland Warehouse suspension kit and opted for Sway-Away rear coils intended for the FJ Cruiser. These rear coils are some 12% stiffer than the stock 4Runner rear coils and only add about 1-1/2" of lift. I also ordered some Light Racing UCA's so as to ensure I'd have ample caster angle adjustment.

The Overland Warehouse/Radflo/Sway-Away suspension finally arrived the end of May and I had my local Toyota dealer do the installation. Since this was the first 5th Gen 4Runner suspension upgrade that dealer tech had ever done, it took him about 7-1/2 hours. I'm very happy with both the suspension itself as well as the installation. As expected, my new 285 tires rub at full lock in the backs of the front wheel wells (even with the front mud flaps removed). I now know that the Light Racing UCA's need to be left set at the "0" setting (giving +2.0 degrees of caster) and at least another +2.0 degrees of caster needs to be dialed in on the OEM LCA caster eccentric cam bolts (yielding > +4.0 degrees of caster). This will move the front wheels forward and should eliminate any rubbing issues.

My sig line lists all my other upgrades .. I've just finished installing my BudBuilt skid plates this past weekend.

looks real nice, pawzitiv. how are you liking the Rocky Road roof rack? got any other pictures of that? how much height does it add to the Trail's OEM roof rails?

congrats on your new suspension setup.

Thanks, sandcrawler!

I'm very happy with my Rocky Road Outfitters Adventure rack. It's strong, the welds and powdercoating are decent and I think it's a great value at $250.

The roof rack mounting brackets (and grub screws holding the tubing in the brackets) stick up higher than the OEM roof rails by about 1-3/4". Even with my OW 2.5 suspension kit, 285 tires and a Rotopax mount plate (plus the mounting posts), I still clear my 7' high garage door by about a 1/2".

very cool, pawzitiv. thanks for the pics of the rack. it really looks super on your rig.

i wonder if RRO ever considered "inverting" the design so that the mounting brackets recess below the lip on the inside of the roof rails? the Trail's roof rails are so tall themselves that every inch counts! even though you know your 4Runner has that 1/2" of clearance into your garage, i think my sphincter would still be clenched every time i rolled under that door!! :D

be sure to post up pics when you've gotten in some time on the trails—with the dogs!

what are the red things?

Spacers installed...

Now I have the 2/1.5 toytec spacer kit...285/70/17 nitto TG's...and 1.25" spidertrax spacers which really makes the T4R look like it should IMO. This should tide me over for a while until I get the bug to upgrade to a real lift with adjustable bilsteins. Until then...this works!

Beautiful truck Arie! Question, does the rack interfere with satellite reception at all? Once I moved my stock cross rail within 6" of the fin, and that affected it, making it come in and out. The bar on your rack looks closer in the pic. I would maybe go for one of those if it does not bother the reception. Thanks in advance.

+1: I just figured out what we're doing with our T4R TE until we drop big coin for a full suspension lift! Thanks! The Spidertrax spacers are already here. Time to order to Toytec spacers.

Thanks for the accolades, 453030! I can't answer your question regarding XM radio reception with the RRO rack since I never listen to XM radio and my subscription has expired. The rear tube on my RRO rack is about 4" from the sat radio fin so I'm sure it will affect reception. Maybe some other folks with the RRO rack (or the Gobi or Baja rack) can answer your question.

Well deserved. From my own experience, I think the bar will affect it somewhat. I use my XM on a regular basis. Still, I dig that rack!

As a data point, I use a Yakima crossbar on my SR5 positioned at about the same spot as the rear crossbar of the Rocky Road rack in the picture above. I had no decrease in XM reception during a recent trip to the Pacific Northwest. That was while carrying two 20+ foot carbon fiber canoes on top of the T4R.

Updating my pic on this thread with the new OME 885X/889/Nitrocharger Sport set up...

I get to finally post to this thread!!!

So I know I need to take better pictures, but I wanted to go ahead and post here. I completed the install of the Icon 2.5" coilovers in the front and SAW coils with Icon monotube shocks in the rear. Overall I got 3" of lift in the front and 2" in the rear. I'm assuming the coils will settle a bit over time. I'll post more pics once clean and with better lighting to really capture the shoreline blue!

I'm running Toyo Open Country A/T's in P285/70R17's. They ride smooth and are pretty quiet. I'm still on the lookout for a second set of rims and tires, where I'll most likely go with a more aggressive tires, like a KM2. We'll see, I think the TRD forged wheels would look killer, but they are pricey.

Got my lift and Spidertrax on yesterday. So Stoked on how it came out. With the spacers I dont despise the stock wheels/tires as much.
