Hey everyone, I'm Chase and, as the title alludes to, my wife and I are the owners of a 1999 Limited 4WD 4Runner with 166,000 miles on it. I am hoping to sell the vehicle in the next 6 weeks but am incredibly naive when it comes to automotive stuff and am hoping that you all can help me through the process.
I imagine it might be helpful for me to tell you a bit about the vehicle:
My wife purchased it about 4 years ago from a dealership and it has been her daily driver. It has been treated well but not spoiled. Has some minor cosmetic blemishes on the exterior with the worst of it being a small "dent" in the front left bumper due to hitting a small structure in a parking garage. Interior is in good condition, never been smoked in, isn't eaten in on a regular enough basis to have any smells or stains. All in all, aesthetically speaking, the condition of the car is probably just better than "clean" and I think that with a thorough detailing (whatever you all suggest that looks like) it is going to be viewed as a visually attractive vehicle.
I've currently got a phone call into the mechanic so that he can remind me of any work we've done to it in the last 24 months or so, and I can update the thread with it later but, off the top of my head: In the last 2 years we have changed the breaks; just recently cut the rotors (?) because they were warped and causing some serious wobble when breaking; we lost heat at one point and had something replaced (it wasn't a radiator issue), we had a strange clicking noise coming from the dashboard that ended up being a burnt out fan motor (or something), and we replaced a radiator (never overheated). Other than that we've sub-routinely changed the oil. Tires seem to have better than 80% of the original tread.
As far as pricing goes: Edmunds appraises it at $5,022; Kelly Blue Book appraises it at $5,091 and four local 4Runners of similar makes and models are being advertised on Craigslist at the following prices:
1997 2wd limited 162,000 $4,300
1999 4wd limited 226,000 $4,000
2000 4wd limited 144,000 $8,300
2001 4wd limited 185,000 $8,500
So, please, let me know what else I can tell you, and I'd be grateful for any assistance you can offer.
