Question for Countersteer X owners

If any of you are running 5 wheels and storing the spare underneath, do you know if you can attach it finish side up? I'm thinking of ordering a 5th wheel for my spare, but I would prefer to mount it like that. I'm not sure if I will be able to tighten the chain enough to secure it. Seems like it should work.

Here's a pic I snagged from Andrew's build thread. (Adio3x). It looks like he had his 5th Konig X finish side up. Before the heftyfab anyways..

Thanks Factory for this post. Sure looks like it will work OK. Appreciate the help my friend.

No problem 453030, but what happened to the TRDs wrapped in the MT/Rs?

I decided to sell the TRDs and found a great member here to buy them. The MT/Rs are on my OEM Trail wheels and now sit stacked in my garage. I think I am still going to use those off road instead of the DuraTracs, as the sidewalls are so much tougher. Then again, I see guys like Marc have really put the DuraTrac through some tough terrain without fail.

Interesting note: The MT/Rs in 275 are 57 lbs. each. 285 DuraTrac is 53. The Trail wheels weigh 29 pounds (27 on the TRD, in case you are wondering), and the Countersteers only 20. So from the factory wheel I have now reduced my weight 13 lbs. on each corner. It is absolutely noticeable on the highway above 65. It was that 65-80mph that had me constantly downshifting w/ the MT/R setup. I'm sure the 285 DuraTracs will require some as well, but there are a few spots I hold now in 5th gear that I used 4th w/ the MT/Rs.

Really just wanted something more mild than the MT/R for my highway and winter use, and the DuraTrac fits the bill. Almost went with Silent Armors, but the anthracite Konigs were just too beautiful to wrap in those.

I understand. I'm about to wrap my TE wheels in some Hankook MTs. No spare wheels yet. But I'm still shopping around for wheels. I've been thinking about the Method 301s and not many people I have seen run them.

Glad you choose the duratracs over the Silent Armors haha. That wouldn't have looked right on those sexy wheels. Color looks great on your rig BTW!

Sounds like you've got your answer. To pile on, though, yes it will work.

I've got 5 AR ATX Mojaves, and I asked the tire monkey to mount my spare shiny side up. The overall tire width is the same in either position. The only difference has to do with the wheel offset, but any difference is overcome by the cranking mechanism that secures the wheel.

Happy trails!
