Quick questions from a noobie

Sup guys.
I just recently made an account on T4R, though I've browsed for many months.

To cut to the chase, I was wondering if any of you have repainted your gold (yes, I know many of you prefer the chrome) emblems/badges and how you did so.

Another question; apart from junkyards and Craigslist, what's another way to get the rear spoiler for a 98 Sr5 without spending an arm and a leg?

Are you wanting to repaint them gold or are you wanting a different color? As far as the rear spoiler, can you be more specific on your budget?

I think that would be tricky, because it would be hard to get a nice gold shine out of paint. They would come out looking dull and old still. You would have to get them refinished.

And as far as the spoiler, there is this option for not much more than $200:

Yeah, I've messed around with so-called "metallic" paint and gotten a dull gold. And that type of spoiler isn't what I'm looking for. I don't know the name of it, but it mounts to the top of the back gate. It's flat black has a whole for the top brake light.

That's the stock spoiler. Any reason you don't want to go the CL route? Pretty easy to find a wrecked 4Runner that is being parted out.

I have no problem with going with Craigslist or a junkyard, it's just that I've been looking for a while with no luck. Haha

Where are you located? I see Syracuse, so you in SC? If you want, I can keep my eye out for some here and ship one to you. Not sure how much that would run.

Yeah I'm in SC. And thatll be cool if you would. I figure it wouldn't be more than 20.
 
you might want to post a WTT (Want to trade) in the classifieds. some guys around here i am sure would get rid of the gold for chrome, so it would be a win win.

for the spoiler and another option for the badges, i would look at some of the guys parting out a runner. they show up from time to time, and you can usually score some misc parts off of them if you are quick enough.
