Radiator Swap - Tacoma?

It's time to replace the radiator in the 4runner, and I usually use maintenance as an opportunity to upgrade. From what I can find, you can get dual core radiators for the Tacoma (Koyo PN# C1755) but they are 1/4" wider in the core area according to Koyo's product page. I'm curious if the lower mounts are the same distance apart on the tacoma as they are the 4runner. If so, this could be a good swap for guys looking for more cooling capacity. ANyone have any insight into this?

Both taco and runner uses the same radiator.
I used the denso radiator and its core is thicker I think it is 1.25 inches of so. Most aftermarket radiators are 0.25 inches less thicker than the OEM or the Denso I bought off of ebay.

Nope. I have the built motor/trans in my gs300. I'm waiting for the right time to combine the two. One day when other things are paid off....

Bolt pattern is the same for all 3 core sized radiators for the Taco and 4Runner for 96-02.

No problem....just keep in mind that even though all 3 sizes will bolt in, you should probably match the correct size to the engine and trans you have.

I'm breaking that rule by using the smallest radiator with the largest engine (but I have a manual which keeps things cooler) and I'm using it in Phoenix....which is at least 6 months over 100º.....but I wanted something that was above frame rails for protection from rocks. So far, with summer behind us....no issues, but with 37s I may find out next summer that I'll need to put in one of the larger ones.

OSC makes the smaller core (18 11/16") for the manual trans (just deletes the tranny input/out nipples.....they are great quality and Rock Auto carries them. Pretty sure they make all sizes with the tranny cooler delete.

The shrouds will bolt up...but you may have to do major surgery to make it fit your fan. Do you have the 3.4L or the 2.7L?

I linked to auto parts warehouse earlier today....they sell new shrouds.

Ya, I was impressed that they oversized the cores and that mine fit better than the DENSO I got before it (next size up: 20 5/8). The OSC used welded nuts that reused the factory bolts unlike the Denso which used the threaded clips and the factory bolts weren't long enough.

So far, it's working fine for me.....but I also had almost 200K on the first factory radiator (largest 22 5/8 core) without any leaks or issues.

I put in the OSC #1985 radiator for a 3.4 V6 Manual Tacoma this weekend.

It's shorter than the factory 4Runner radiator, so I had to cut my shroud at the bottom. Also, the Tacoma radiator uses a different cap than a 4Runner, so I had to go get one from the parts store. Other than that, it went all good.

Same coolant temperatures as before ~190

The OSC radiator seems to be very high quality even though it is made in China. I trust it much more than I would a TYC rad.
