just got mine installed a couple weeks ago. I was looking for a touch screen with Bluetooth and streaming music from my phone wirelessly. It also has Pandora app . did a lot of research and am very happy I went with the kenwood ddx 373bt. 2016 model. Sounds great. I just need to get the backup camera installed next.

edit; oh, and its pretty budget friendly which was important to me.

I got an Android deck recently. Rooted and quad core it's pretty fast. If you use Google now you can ask your deck to do so many things. Talk to text, skip track, call mom. Torque app is also pretty cool, cel codes on my deck.

Did you notice with the OE speakers? I had a FH X 820 in my 3rd gen and liked it a lot.

Not sure how much it improved. One of the first things I did was to replace the head unit. The original had some buttons that didn't work.

Here is the link, I have the RK3188 quad core. Using Malaysk's firmware and 4.4.4 Kit Kat. I've been rooting since the first android phone G1 so I am pretty comfortable with it. You can brick your device if your not careful. I had a Kenwood DDX512 before this deck and the Android deck is lightning fast compared to the Kenwood lol. It also comes with the navigation software IGO that is not available in the north american PlayStore. Once rooted you can extract the apk and put it on your phone. No service needed for this nav software its pretty good. Overall I love this android deck and recommend it!!!

JVC KW-HDR81BT

Simple, good sound, matches the interior industrial design and doesn't attract theft.

Always go after the HU before the speakers. Putting new, underpowered but higher performance speakers, is a useless exercise without the proper power delivered to them. In fact, you're probably going to see flatter bass and mids if you just replace the speakers. The stock speakers in the truck are paper (at least SR5s are) and are therefore more responsive with less power. Better speakers with better drivers will REQUIRE more power to move the drivers...

wondering if speakers should come before HU..

Deck, amp, speakers.
That's the order I'd follow.

This.

My other car ls400, granted the stock speakers have their own box in the doors.

I replaced the deck for a pioneer avic 1xxbh, a 4 channel zapco amp for the doors, and Hertz components for the doors.

I never got a chance to change out the passenger side and they sound great amped.

I'm not sure how many watts I'm driving them, probably around 75watts, and they are doing quite well.

It's distortion that kills speakers.

This spring I'll pull the door apart and install the rest of the speaker's.

I rooted my Nexus 7, but I used a tool kit to do it, so it wasn't bad. Flashed Slim cat to it, and redone the file system to f2fs.

Does this unit come without having to do a lot to it, or do you have to root it and all
