Rattles and creaks.... How much patience do you have?

I managed to kill off all my rattles after bruising knuckles and frazzling my brain searching for em EXCEPT for one.....that creaking that comes from my diver's side B-pillar is annoying me to no end.

Wind noise

Anyone experiencing a wind noise emanating from the windshield moulding, starting around 40-45 mph? The moulding seems properly seated but the thin plastic is easily manipulated with moderate force, perhaps comparable to those at highway speeds?

Thought at first it was the season's worth of fall leaves and other debris that get trapped between the hood and the windshield, but with a cleaning the noise remains.

Had a slight rattle on the passenger side door or lower dash somewhere. Saw the link in this post of removing the plastic clip under the glovebox. No more rattle!!!!

Shifter creak

Anyone have a creak that comes from the shifter area? Usually happens after I come to a stop without touching the shifter. It started last winter and went away in the summer and now that it's colder it back again. Its not loud so if you have the radio on you will miss it. I have 14k miles.

I stuck a large piece of velcro patch (loop side) right behind the passenger seat belt buckle (B pillar) and it effectively deadens the noise against the pillar when no one is sitting or using the belt. Mine would slap the pillar when I hit some bumpy roads. I placed one on the driver side too and helps with when I release my belt.

If I had a rattle in anything newer than 2008 then I would be at the dealership in "fix my s%^*" mode. I have a little squeak in my 2001 and I'm going :uzi::gun5::AK47::drummer::vader::gun4: .....crazy.

13K miles, just the lumbar squeak and the silver trim on the steering wheel feels a bit loose.

OK, so, to reference the title of this post, I am running our of patience with the lumbar creaking.

B-Pillar Creak

I have my 10k maintenance coming up so I plan on printing this thread and placing it on the service writer's desk along with my keys and a smile to say they can have my truck until every creak, rattle, pop, etc is gone. The B-pillar creak is insane now, even my girlfriend noticed it and mentioned it the other day. To the others who have the same, I can manipulate the creak by putting pressure on the dome light assy.

If they are able to pinpoint it, please let us know.

Reading this thread makes it appear many are having rattles, however I bet most are driving rattle free.

Yup, @ 19K. Oh except for a really really annoying rattle coming from the dash in front of me --- turned out to be the sunvisor wasn't pushed back into its clip holder. Doh.

And those with b-pillar noises, make sure it isn't the seatbelt buckle. I pull the belt out and wrap it around the passenger head restraint.

Comforting to know I'm not the only one that noises make crazy. Ever carry a styrofoam cooler?

I've not experienced any except for one or 2 small complaint items listed on this forum/thread with my 2010 TE. The only rattling I've had was that of the passenger seat belt buckle emitting a slight rattle against the plastic pillar. Gluing the felt side of a piece of velcro pad fixed that. The other item is the slightly bumby track ride the passenger seat experiences but no one ever adjusts that (only my wife ever sits there) and so I have not been motivated to get that fixed but probably should. That's been it ! I'm a very happy camper !!

I'm at 26k rattle free, I wouldgo crazy if I had rattles on a 34k car!

Btw for u guys that have rattles, if you put things where the 4x4 shifter is, it will rattle. I put my phone there a few times and I was going crazy trying to figure out the rattle while I was driving lol.

not sure if this really applies, but not sure if it requires a new post:

my rear view mirror has a lot of play when you try to adjust it, and the black plastic piece against the windshield pops open with the slightest touch. anyone else notice this?

I have been hearing a very slight rattle lately, after removing nearly everything from the truck (glove box, console), double checking the jack and tools, securing the seat belts - I finally figured it out. It sounded like it was coming from the pillars, but, in my case, my roof rail crossbars were a little loose. I got up there, repositioned the crossbars and then tightened it back up. Surprise, no more noise. So, not sure if this applies to you, but one more thing to check.

Mine was intermittent, I didn't hear it "all the time", so it was hard to narrow down. It didn't occur much, but when it did, I was going mad trying to isolate it.

If it's still under the 36 month/36k mile warranty take it to the dealer. They will find it.

Rattle

To be honest I am very unhappy with the "Toyota Quality" My 4runner has 12,000 Miles a few rattles and a BAD squeak when you put your foot on the foot pad on the drivers side. I am going to the dealer, but I think it is sad...I come from a 2007 wrangler with 36,000 miles that didn’t have this kind of rattle and a 2009 Silverado with 29,000 miles that had not rattle and both cost less!
