re-gearing next month a few ?s

problem is i don't want to run anything bigger than 35s, and with 5.29 and auto 4 speed the daily commute would be pretty miserable. if those are 4.88s i would be over there already.

I run 35's with 4.88 Yukons with the 3.4L 5-speed combo and it's my DD as well. I do wish that I had the 5.29's instead. 4.88's and 35's is NOT the same final drive ratio as the stock OEM set-up. Engine RPM with this set-up is about 8% lower than stock meaning that your actual speed is about 8% higher than what your speedometer is reading. 5.29's would have been perfect due to the heavier and wider tires plus the extra drag that is added with a lifted vehicle, throw in the extra weight of winches and recovery gear and the 4.88's just doesn't make up the difference.

ahhh some good first hand experience there....i will consider the 5.29s
as far as that deal on pirate i would probably have gotten it aeeing as its local and i can keep my diffs but i have not not recieved my tax return which is funding the 35's n gears. hopefully it will still be up in a few weeks. Keep your eyes open for me guys for some deals like that. An ARB would be ideal!!!!!

If i were you go 5.29's and buy a beater for work like a Tercel,Celica,Corolla or even a 2wd truck.Just my 2 pennies.:banana:

Yeah I hear you, that would not be ideal. Just keep looking and you might score a deal when you are ready.

SO I checked out east coast gear supply and believe I'm going to go with them. I'd love to rebuild it with my co-worker and learn but thier price and warranty make it almost worth it. 1,560 with and ARB locker for the rear and 4.88s and [MENTION=84681]white_n_slow[/MENTION] gave me a good offer on a front diff. Well over my budget but that will just mean that i will have to put off my bumper for a few months.

Yeah I'm up for meeting and wheeling some time. I'm working on building a rear diff skid with a friend over on TTORA and then I need to do my valve cover gaskets but then I should be back in shape for wheeling.

As for ECGS, I think they are one of the best deals out there. That's where I got my front diff from.
