Real Hi/Lo Beam LED bulb! AWESOME!

I will agree that the cut off leaves a good bit to be desired. But if I really want to up my game, then it is a retrofit like would cost me $350 vs $28. No brainer for my wallet. Love the output without the overkill blue LED look. Can see so much further now. Thanks BD for the link despite them not being German.

No high beam indicator for my 99 Limited here either. But if I can’t tell the difference in light output between low and high beams, I need not be driving at night. I will go ahead and call the old folks home immediately.

But I am always curious about new products so keep posting folks. There is always better.

I'm still using them, but I do see a significant amount of light bleeding out above the cutoff, and the lack of high beam indicator annoys me.

So I am getting close to trying something else, like these recommended by TonyB66 - https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07FRG4NSH/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1.

He claims much higher light output, better cutoff, and the high beam indicator works. All for 30 bucks.

"Much higher light output, better cutoff" as compared to what exactly? Is he comparing the bulbs that are the topic of this thread or something else?

Leon, the output on those is quite a bit higher as measured by that app and the hi beam indicator does indeed work.

Does your truck have DRLs?

I suppose it’s possible the LEDs are passing enough current to light the indicator bulb, but seems unlikely.

Regarding the Oedros, I have three pairs of them and they all work great. Night and day difference over the halogens. (Pun intended)

I first had these Oedros LEDs and did some output comparison testing (light meter app) in this thread with my then halogens. That was the only comparison I did with these bulbs. The halogens had a slightly higher lux output.

Later I purchased the $30 Aukee LEDs and found those significantly brighter than those same halogens. The cut-off was not as good as my halogens though, but I've seen worse for sure. I didn't experiment much further with the Aukee LEDs as I purchased those Hikari ones when they went on sale. The cut-off was noticeably better than the Aukee ones, and the output was generally higher too as I moved the phone around, but did get a slightly higher max reading with the Aukee LEDs, but that was in one particular spot, while across the board the Hikari had a consistently higher output.

As I recently shared in my maintenance & build thread, this is a shot of me about 12-15' behind another car at a stop light. The cut-off is quite good. Lesser ones spread light into the cabin, on the back of the headrest...

Good point that I was wanting to mention. I did the DRL deactivation, so that might explain why I have the high beam indicator working, but I'm not sure. The indicator worked for the Aukee and Hikari, but I didn't take note if they did for the Oedros. I seem to recall that they did work, so DRL deactivation might be the reason...

UPDATE: Still running these LED Bulbs and absolutely ZERO problems.

Anyone else running these have an update?

Mine are getting extensive use and are still doing just fine. High beam indicator works just fine on my 2000, had disabled DRLs before I ever bought these anyway.

Non-DRL trucks (1996 - 1999), regardless of the brand or type of LED bulbs used, will likely not retain the function of the high beam indicator.

I’m working on a wiring harness modification to fix the indicator light. I’ll try to get some pictures if it works out well.

The way I look at these bulbs they'll hold me over till projector's make it up the list.

I think that would require running a new line to the indicator in the cluster? not my area of expertise.

Yes to the 9003s and my set are still working just fine per my own review upthread.

Plug-n-play, no additional wiring needed. Some zip ties to strap the ballast box down so it doesn't rattle, that's about it.

Mine are still working, after the initial dud set. But there is no question that there is light bleeding out past the cutoffs and into other cars' interiors, I can see the headrests being illuminated.

I'm sort of a lighting perfectionist - I like lots of light, but properly controlled and uniform. These do the former very well, but not the latter, so I'm torn. I like the low price and the awesome light output, but I hate being "that guy". Then again, driving on the dark highway that I often do, I see that everyone else now has LED's/HID's in their reflectors, and is blinding everyone else (especially those frigging 18 wheelers - I thought they had to go through inspections???).

I realize that I can't get projector performance from reflectors, that's where I'm torn. I don't like the bug eye look of projectors in our headlights, that's the only thing keeping me from doing the proper retrofit.

I'm still impressed by these bulbs, way better than stock, silverstars.
I've put considerable hours (500 +) of on time on them no complaints.
I have auto on light feature, upon startup this feature flickers the bulbs.
Not knowing if flicker is a good thing or not stopped using auto on for now.
9003's are the correct ones for Runners.

Same here, flicker might be an understatement, my driveway looks like a night club for a second when I start up. Trying to break my habit of leaving my lights in the on position.
