rear ended today. lift & ball hitch saved my rear!

Not much to say... I got rear ended at a stop light by a ford focus. My ball hitch and lift appeared to have prevented worse damage from occurring. The exhaust pipe and rear bumper cover appear to be the only things damaged...

It's at the shop and I'll know more tomorrow.

This has happened to me twice, but with previous T4R's. One time I was rear-ended by a brand new Benz and the hitch pierced the radiator. I almost felt bad for the driver since there was no damage to my vehicle other than a scratch that was easily buffed out.
 
Hahaha, i love it! That ford focus got effed up lol! Thank god for that hitch, glad the t4r didn't get messed up that much, could have been worse.
 
OH MAN. im sorry to hear that. Your ride is gorgeous. I'm really happy to see that it appears as only minor cosmetic damage for you. That POS focus got EFFed up! haha
 
Trucks (and cars) can be fixed. The important thing here is that nobody was hurt. Life goes on after a quick trip to the body shop.

I've been leaving my ball hitch in place just because it seems to reduce tailgating.

I'm glad the people and the 4R weren't injured.
 
most likely they will replace your whole back bumper. let us know.


i need to get a hitch on my lexi just for thisr reason
 
Thanks for the kind words guys. Not too upset about the situation, considering what could have happened. I'll keep everyone posted on the status and repair estimates.

I'm going to consider an aftermarket exhaust. I had a true dual Stillen exhaust on my G35 before I bought my 4runner. I loved it, but I don't want anything loud on my 4runner.
 
Well at least your ok and the damage is minimal! I remember when I was thinking of taking my whole hitch set up off to save weight at the track but then I was rear ended when this rude woman and her daughter rolled into me at a stop light a couple years ago. she busting her bumper with sensors in it. :lmao:I still have it on to save my rear end. I just have to remember the majority of the drivers in this country are not highly skilled.
 
Collisions can do funny things to frames that you can not notice with your eyes... As this is NEW truck i would have the frame checked just for the warn and fuzzys
 
I've always had mine on since day 1 I got her new (2006). There have been a few "casualties" (people's knees, and my head too actually when I crawled underneath one time (forgot that damn thing was there lol). I've caught a Ford F-150 rubbed up against my hitch one time! Foo thought I was stealing his parking spot or something and probably was mad I was parked there at that time but luckily my bumper was saved :moon:

same outcome but no damage to my truck, that angle thing I welded up saved the day bigtime!
