Earlier today I had the hatch open for about 5 minutes. Everything was normal, nothing out of the ordinary happened. A couple of hours later I go to open it again and notice that it’s very tough to pull up/open. With the small amount I opened it I peaked in/around it into the trunk to see if somehow something was holding it shut. I saw nothing and let it close. I again attempted to open the hatch with the same results. I pulled it on open and pushed it up, completely open. I had to manually hold it open or else it would have slammed shut.
I know the lift struts go bad, but on every other vehicle I’ve had that used them, it was a slow, gradual thing. Like, the hood/trunk would mostly stay open but want to sag. These just died all of a sudden. Is that normal???
I went to Auto Zone to get another pair but they have to get them from their warehouse. I’ll have to go back tomorrow to pick them up. $78 for the pair!
