Rear Windshield Wiper

I have a limited and I've noticed the rear windshield wiper only clears like 50% of my rear windshield. Has anyone else noticed this? Its seems like poor design. Its an issue for me because i have salt all over my rear windshield due to living in upstate ny and having no mud flaps on the rear wheels. Anyone figure anything out for this??

It will probably bottom out below the windshield. The wiper mount is offset to the passenger side and not in the middle. Do the other models not have this issue?

Mine clears like that too but down in Arkansas it's not going to be that big of a deal. You could always put mud flaps on yours couldn't you?

I definitely want to put on mud flaps (I think it will help) but they are not on the limited version and my local parts department does not have them... Has anyone found them?

I spoke to a Toyota service rep and he said to roll down the rear window for the winter and the problem should go away. All kidding aside though, I think we are just going to have to wait until we can get mud flaps and running boards here in the Northeast. I feel for you as I too have a Blizzard Pearl Mud Salt Slush T4R. Looks like weekly trips to the car wash for the time being.

The Car wash is the ABSOLUTE worst thing you can do to a car covered in salt let alone a brand new one.

Leave it outside, because having it freeze overnight is better than it remaining wet in the garage.

Are you saying this because it can be scratched in the car wash? I use brushless car wash (doesn't get it as clean, but keeps it from scratching).

I do not have a garage. Removing corrosive agents from the entire vehicle is one of the best ways to protect your investment. Start with a pressure wash for the under side and a touch free for the rest of the car. You may want to refer to your owners manual, for what it is worth, in reference to washing even in salt prone areas such as coastal locations. When the day comes that they offer hot dip galvanized frames and stainless lines and other corrosion resistant components, then and only then, will I think twice about washing my rig.

This is exactly what I do now. It's a little extra $, but it's the only way you can really get the underside as well as between seams, etc. I go to the stall, pressure wash it down and then drive into the touchless.
