With any luck, I can reload Win 7 on this 2008 T61 ThinkPad with Nvidia video. A known problem, but that is not my problem today. It locks up and reloading Windows is the only thing left. I have a d/l of windows on USB, will try that first. fun times.

2008? Holy crap that's even older than my laptop I just replaced. Nice work man. If winblows doesn't want to work you should give linux a try. It runs really well on older machines and not CPU intensive at all. I switched to Linux 10 years ago and couldn't be happier.

I was hoping this dual core could run something newer, but Lenovo never made Win 10 for it. Tried to d/l Win 7 from MS but it is a Lenovo key, no luck there. life, so much fun at times.

Even back in 2008 Thinkpads typically have a recovery partition you can access during startup, which will reload all OS/Thinkpad Utilities/etc makes doing it a snap......and all drivers are installed. I would do that if your going with Win7 anyways, and then just do a normal update. You'll have to google for what keys to hold down its been a while.

I was hoping so. I bought this off of ebay. COA:Vista Bus. They had swapped hard drives and loaded Win 7 (Lenovo key). no partitions. I found out about the Key when I just tried to download from MS site, no luck sir, it is a Lenovo key. Core 2 Duo 2.1 GHz, 8 GB MB, 15.4" LED. fun machine

I use to love the Thinklight you can turn on which illuminates the keyboard, back before backlit keyboards were common that was an awesome feature!

The T61 still has that light. great for late night work. Lenovo Forum may be able to help me now.

the guys at Lenovo forum sent me a disc, it is up and running. First, it didn't take my key, so I bypassed that and did the 200+ updates. A few days later, I checked, only 1 day left (before it goes black??) Reloaded my key and it is up and running. still loading programs, I Lost Office 2010. Any cheap Office deals out there? I even have the key, but Lenovo says I'm not the original owner. fun times, hate to load my out of date Office 2003.
