Remote Start from Iphone

Couple of safe guards built in. First off, every remote starter I know of (including this one) have a run time. It is set at the time of installation. Most common choices are 15/30/45 mins before the engine automatically shuts down. Plus, with the app, you tap the start button, and then it says it is about to start the vehicle and you have to select yes or cancel. There is also another feature you can choose, and that is a 4 digit PIN when you first open the app. That will protect if your phone is lost or stolen, and prevent unauthorized use...

I learn something new everyday........thanks for the clarification.

:thanks:

How are the Viper Users enjoying their iPhone/Cell alarm systems.......looks like the yearly fee is more appropriate when I looked yesterday. I may be eating my words and getting one soon, we will see.

I mean who needs to start their car from 20 miles away? And maybe I'm wrong here as I haven't done all the research but you'd still need the factory FOB to drive the car away despite the Viper system remote starting it for you.

I work at a large gas plant and we're parked 4km away. The parking lot is atop a large hill. The Compustar Drone is a life saver!!! Not for everyone perhaps but works really well.

I put in the Viper 5901 and I love it. You can start the car from up to a mile away. This means the lcd screen will send you alerts and show status up to a mile away. If you're in cold weather you can crank up the heater if it's on already and start your car 12 min ahead of time. After 12 minutes it shuts off.

Here it is on amazon for $209

I bought the Viper smartstart and love it. It cost me 30.00 for the year and the smartstart installed cost 750.00. The key fob is also amazing in distance start. Where I work I can not bring my cell phone in, but with the fob I can start my TE as soon as I leave the front door of my unit. To which is quite the walk to my TE.

Anyone have any experience with a 4Runner equipped with the smart key system? Any thoughts on how that would work?
