Replacing Oem Tires: What to do with them?

I'm planning on getting Duratracs fairly soon, I was wondering what to do with the OEM tires? There's only 5k on the tires so I hate the idea of dumping them - Do you think there's a 2nd hand market for the stock duelers? Craigslist, Ebay? Or is there a recommended tire center that would pony up some cash for the used ones? I'm not expecting to make a lot of money off them but I'd rather get something than nothing. I've never been in a situation where I'm replacing a brand new tire so I wasn't sure what's the best way to get rid of them.

discount tire will often give you a small credit per tire, or you could try and CL/ebay them - they are a whacky size though - personally it's never really worth my time to try and ship and sell used tires, that's just me... burn em up, do donuts, go rock climbing with them, then replace em.... or keep em maybe for spares JUST in case?
 
Put 'em on eBay and see what happens. You might be surprised at how much you get for them. FedEx will let you ship unpackaged tires/wheels on their ground service. I did this with the original tires and wheels from a previous truck and made a decent chunk of money. Just make sure you cover the shipping costs in your listing. My local FedEx office will give me shipping quotes for free before I post on eBay. Just bring in one tire and multiply by four. I always give them a distant zip code for worst-case scenario.

I took my OEM tires off at 15K + the spare with 0K and got $500 on craigslist in only 2 days.

Some guy with an FJ bought them :lmao:
 
Beakerbox, I had 1600 miles on mine. (OEM Dunlap's), Discount tire called the Dunlap rep and he/she authorized full replacement cost as a refund to Discount Tire, which was passed down to me. 160.00 per tire! I would check "trade in" value first and see what you might be able to get now, before you list your tires......be safe
 
Discount Tire offered my $25 per tire (with 800 miles on them). I put them on Craigslist and sold them for $400 in less than 24 hours.

Craigslist......

post for a little more than you want, and they will go in a few weeks. Took me 3 weeks, and got $450 for them.
 
Great! Thanks for the feedback folks! Perhaps it is worth it to take them home and put them on CL. I'd rather sell them local than deal with shipping.

Have you actually went to someplace like tirerack.com to see what you have and what's available in your size? You don't have to buy from them but Sears, Discount Tire and a whole bunch of real stores sell the same thing. Take a look for yourself.

I don't think he liked the answer so thought he'd give it another go. Makes me wonder if it is just a joke... really... can't figure out the tire or rim size? yikes.
