How much darker are your rear windows with the 70% on top of the factory tint compared to the 20% on the driver/passenger side windows?

Did your installer tell you what % tint the 70% combined with the factory tint would equal to?

Well factory tint is around 20%. 70% of 20% is 14%. You can see the pics on the last page show it pretty well. It is a bit darker but I like how it matches.

Nice. I too can't stand being in a car without tints, everybody's got a staring problem.

I can't believe you guys do the whole windshield, very uncommon to me. I always see the strip on the windshield but not the whole thing.

I want tints on mine, but anything on the front windows and windshield here in terrible NJ is illegal. I'll just wait till I move.

The windshield was by far the biggest improvement to the cab temps. In Ohio, the windshield can be 70%. Honestly, you can get away with this elsewhere. 70% is very light, hardly noticeable.

Hmm . . . when you say "bigger updates", my mind is telling me tires or suspension, or both :dancin:. I guess we'll find out shortly!

Well yeah actually. Some opportunities are coming to fruition earlier than expected, so Suspension and wheels/tires are coming pretty soon. I will be able to talk about that in the next few weeks I hope. The suspension will be quite a large undertaking the way I plan to go with it.

The total suspension budget is around $3500 and I have already acquired about half the parts so far.

I have to update that thread, the RS4 bumper is molded now and the body is farther along. Its also the reason this thread has not been updated since page 1..

... I have owned two 4Runners (Surfs in UK) first a 1993 Gen2, great truck but blew up the rear diff and hated the rear window set-up.

Earlier this year traded in for a 1998 3.0 KZN185 Gen3 Limited Edition:

I love it - i have BIG plans for this one. So far just serviced, new radiator, waterpump, oils & filters etc. - I'm surprised you didn't change the water pump too when you did the radiator, or was yours done with the cam belt?

What else? i'm a 40year old, ex Graphic designer, now secondary school teacher in the UK.

Don't worry about the Illustrator file.

I'm looking forward to following your thread.

The water pump is no small task to just add on to swapping the radiator, and yes it was done with the timing belt in the last 10k miles.

I don't mind if you use the fuse box holder as inspiration for your own, but there's a reason I plastered my name all over this one. I even curious as to what the engine bay arrangement is for the 3.0 Surfs

There are loads of people here who are ditching the 3.0 dietsel and swapping for the lexus LS400 4ltr V8.

I'm curious, why would you prefer the turbo diesel? Is it the torque?

Because it's better than the 3.4 and it has turbo torquey goodness.
