Road Trip Plans - crap

I have yet to run it, as it was still snow bound in early July last time I was out that way. Tried to do Bear Tooth last september but an early snow storm had the road closed, so we ended up going southeast (308) out of Red Lodge and taking Chief Joseph Highway to get into Yellowstone. A little out of the way but a cool drive nonetheless.

Me and some buds were planning on camping at Fish Creek and then going up to Many Glacier to hike on Labor Day weekend. Kinda hoping this sorts itself out by then. Feel bad for all the people losing homes in these fires :(

Probably would be open by the end of the month, right?

Traveling up the next month. Used to live in Kalispell and want to see the area again.

Beartooth Highway and Chief Joseph Highway are my favorite motorcycling roads!
Ridden both dozens of times on my Goldwing and several sport bikes.
I love Red Lodge Montana and Cookie City Montana.

Luckily I got to ride my bike from Apgar to Logan Pass and back down before they opened it up to vehicle traffic early this Summer. Sad to see it's getting hit so hard by wildfires as it was beautiful when I went. We're dealing with it here in Washington too though.

You've still got a couple weeks... it might get worked out by then.

I'm headed to Wyoming & Montana in mid-September... also hoping that things are better by then!

I drove through Death Valley during my recent Nevada/Mojave trip, seems like the majority of the roads and trails were closed. Some (even main, paved roads) have been closed for years. This never happened before the park service took over.

Do you mean before 1994 when it became a national park?

I was in Death Valley a few years ago there were several roads washed out by recent floods.
