RockAuto AAE new steering rack

Are you guys talking about the jamb NUT? I'm still trying to figure out what bolt you are talking about.
 
So I just ordered the Safari LTD Rack and what really did it for me was the 2 year warranty. Should be here by the end of the week with new poly bushings. This thread was really helpful in making my decision. If I wasn't on 35's and dual locked I would have gone with the Rock Auto one.

We are going to find out if the Safari and Atlantic are the same as soon as I can open up the one I ordered.

Interesting that the one that I got comes with a 2 year warranty as well.

x2 on the 2yr warranty. Can't wait to see what you find in there. I'm willing to bet The Kid's assumption is correct.
 
Got the steering rack in today. Whew!!!!!
Have to pick up a tie rod end tomorrow I hit one a little too hard and mushroomed the threads.
Opened the end and it did appear to have brass inside. It was brass colored from what I could see. I plan to call and confirm though.

Did you go with the Rock Auto or Safari? Sorry if I missed it in the earlier posts.

Did you get any confirmation? Either way, I've had this one on and have finally driven the truck a few times and it feels awesome. Granted, I don't have a great control subject to go off of. I bought the truck with 158k and it drove fine, but it didn't steer as nice as mine. It seems to get better the more it's driven. Then again, the entire system was replaced. I'm gonna go with thumbs up on the Rockauto AAE rack. Seems just fine and $500 for Safari, $700 for Toyota? I don't trust the re-man's from the local auto stores. It's not a job I'd like to do more than once if possible.
 
No problems that I'm aware of. It's the wife's truck so I don't drive it much. Seems fine when I do, though. I guess it's been on there for about a year and a half. I'll be under there soon replacing the coilovers and what not so I'll give it a look see.

Bvreagle- is the unit you got at Autozone the AAE/RockAuto one? I just called my local Autozone and all they have available is the rebuilt one.

Sorry, just saw your question. Might be a moot answer now but,

Mine was the aae, new one. Not rebuilt.

Still going strong.
 
Just called Safari LTD to ask about a new steering rack and their voicemail stated that their shop is closed PERMANENTLY... If so... that really sucks.

...okay, just for clarification(hoping some of the original people reply) the Rock Auto/AAE rack does indeed have the Brass bushings and is therefore the same rack as Safari?
