Rusted Out Rear Drivers Side Upper Shock Mount

Hey guys,

Yesterday I purchased a 1992 Toyota 4 Runner. I am very happy with my purchase but upon inspection underneath the car I noticed that the drivers side shock was loose and hanging there. After looking into why the shock wasn't fastened at the top, I realized that the rear drivers side upper shock mount was completely rusted out.

Has anyone experienced this issue before? Any tips or advice on how to fix this?

Your only option is to cut off the rusted area and weld in a new mount. If you cannot weld then find a buddy who can or take it to a shop. Unfortunately, owning an old vehicle is something that requires some mechanical knowledge and hopefully some fabrication skills.

Yes, agree totally. Not a complicated fix and could be rigged easily, but you will need some material or a pre-fabbed shock tab and a grinder and welder

Hey guys,

Thank you very much for all of your replies and all of the information.

I have to go under the truck and look and see exactly what I am dealing with.

I have some fabrication skills and I'm very mechanically inclined, I have been working on cars most of my life.

I really appreciate all of your input, if you guys could provide some specifics about how you actually mounted it on there.

That would be great I know it's hard to explain over the computer thank you very much for all of your replies.

Any other information that would be relevant would be greatly appreciated.
