Hey guys! Figured I'd post here. Moved to Sac about a year ago from the east coast and bought a new 4Runner. Put on BFG KO2's but looking to lift soon.

Anyone know of any shops familiar with KDSS? That's the one thing that has me worried about just picking any random shop.

I'm leaning towards doing it myself and taking and entire weekend - I'll be slow but will eventually figure things out with the help of the internet - but I am also a little hesitant about this too :-/

Check out Stellarbuilt they lifted my KDSS 4runner, and have a lot of experience with it. They can also source the lift at a better price.

It's not that difficult that you can't do it yourself. If you take your time and follow the LINK, it's not worth paying for. When I did this, I did not have any lights or issues afterwards. The biggest thing to watch is not stretching the ABS cables on the front. Those should be removed right after tire removal.

Time to wake this thread up.

What’s up guys!

And I’ll just put this here to spread awareness:

NOR-CAL 4x4 is an amazing Facebook group that can help with recoveries if you’re stuck. Lots of people willing to drive out of their way to get you.

This is kinda messed up, especially when locals are recommending the place. This was for skids and a roof rack install, labor only.

"I believe so, but a local 4x4 shop said they have to drop the fuel tank to put the skid plate on.
I just don't have the space to work on the truck"

"Unfortunately Stellar Built. They first quoted $900, and I told him that’s impossible. After telling them that the manufacturers said 2-3 hours total, it became $550, which still seems high.

I’m now talking with another shop, and it’s much more reasonable".

Damn. I went in there about a month ago to talk with them and they seemed good to go. Unfortunately we didn't talk prices because the owner was out of town.

They quote me $1300 thats just to install my suspension then its $120 for an alignment so to do install and alignment will cost me a whopping $1420. Still shopping around to get my suspension installed.

Set up an install day and have it done for a case of beers or something

I'm looking to do slider, suspension and bumper work done in the next few months. I was quoted 400 for slider install plus ~250 for powder coating. I may just try to do my suspension myself if the costs are that high.

I have the space to do suspension but my truck is from the rust belt and I'm a bit concerned I'm going to get stuck with snapped and rounded bolts and no way to extract them.

$1300 to install a suspension? Well that does it for me. Going to have to learn to install a lift myself. Even if I need to buy/rent some tools I'll still save a good $1000 at least.
