Safari snorkel on a 5th gen?

I just confirmed availability with Wil at Sierra Expeditions...and have my name on one!

Plus...ordered an OEM "Bird Feeder" top...I've never been a fan of the scoop.

Please be aware this sits EXTREMELY close to the A-Pillar (the collar) and most aftermarket intakes do not fit. Also those bird feeder tops are pretty much for looks only, just like turning your normal intake backwards.

Thanks for the input! I'm not stuck on one top over the other, as like you said, it's mostly cosmetic. I've used them on other ARB (and OEM) snorkels before, so figure I'll give it a go.

They're a nice sound effects generator, but the standard snorkel, facing forward, is designed that way for a reason. I ran my rig hard in Mojave, and sucked what felt like 100lbs of silt down the intake, and on cleaning I found the air filter was damn near spotless. Remember it creates positive pressure in the intake, so particles and water/snow have a VERY hard time getting down into the final parts of the chamber.

I've installed snorkels on a couple rigs before, and agree...definitely a huge difference in dust!

At least this time I'll have a template to work with...instead of having to make my own:

It's the price you pay for posting pictures of your heavily modified rig in a forum of enthusiasts with parts that others want but cannot obtain. Hard to get mad about that. If you don't want to be hassled photoshop out the bits other people aren't allowed to purchase. :lalala:

I'd love to have an Inferno rig setup like his but I came into the 4Runner seen 2 years too late. I've been showing snorkel pics to my SO for a few months now so she might possibly warm up to the idea.

Coin is less of an issue for me.. It's the cutting that makes me bleed.
