Safari snorkel on a 5th gen?

Sorry, you have a bunch of us old school guys here who grew up reading manuals and studying engineering books. We even used calculators and manual drafting tables. It took actual time to get answers back then. Sometimes we even had to have multiple conversations on the phone (oh the horror). Yes, that device in your hand does allow voice communication... Or Maybe your iPhone can simply do it for you. Try asking Siri.

Sorry for :moon: busting your balls, but someone has to do it LOL.

I'm one of the first people here to help when I can... but people have to be willing to make some tiny effort on their own first to make the community work.

Or google would of worked as well... I'm 33 but have the old school mentality. It baffles me how much people DON'T read anything on these forum especially in the group buys sections.

It's pretty easy, just follow the template and measure twice (or 10 times) cut once.

No worries about installing at all, although I would have to revert back to my OEM flares but been thinking about that anyway..It's the thought of how much functionality/ benefit it would provide

Looks like they're starting to ship to buyers. Got my tracking numbers today from Sierra Expeditions. Woot! Need to get a 3-1/4" hole saw with arbor now, prep for sheet metal surgery.

I just read the instructions over dinner. Hold up on buying that hole saw. It's an oblong hole that has to be cut.

You cut two holes and then remove the resulting pair of triangular stragglers

I'll see if my hole saw I've used for other snorkel installations will work, but using a dremel is always an option. Looks like there's enough room in the inner fender to tighten the nuts without having to find a friend with really skinny arms too!

I was wondering if my corded Dremel would work with the metal cutting disc. Seems like it would be slower and maybe have to go through a couple discs.

You would go through at least a couple discs but I'm not sure you could get the holes as clean as using a hole saw. It could probably work though and it's going to be covered anyway.

I've used dremels with the good quality cutting disks on other snorkel installs....they work just fine if you take your time.

Well I got it done today! Cutting a hole in your new truck is as satisfying as it is scary. There is also room for the ditch lights which will be here in a couple days.

Awesome! May I ask how long it took from start to finish? Installation guide says 150min but I feel like it would be a 3-4 hour project for me.

It was three hours but if I hadn't lost a nut it would have been 2.5. I also spent some time watching a few YouTube snorkel installs to get my confidence up

Did they include the washers that have one side cut? that was one thing we learned from me being the test monkey.

Looks good! When you can, anyway you can take a quick measurement and pic from the bottom of the front fender flare/lip up to the lowest horizontal point on the snorkel...
