Scion FRS Radio

Like many other around here, I did the Scion T1819 swap into my Runner. Its been great so far, but Ive always wanted a touch screen.

I recently stumbled upon the new 2014 FRS radio, also made by Pioneer. They have all the feature of the T1819, plus nav option and touch screen.

These are pretty expensive from the dealer, but I was able to snag one on craigslist for $75. Gonna be taking pics of the install and finished product over the next few days.

This should be a direct swap for anyone that has alreay done the T1819, minus the nav portion.

Will update with pics as things come along.

I'm interested in this now...any more info on this? I would love this with some bluetooth capability easily handled...Can anyone give us more details?

It is the same as the T1819, but it also has the nav plugs as well. If you are going from a factory 4runner head unit, you will need to purchase several wire harnesses.

Well....I DID IT!!!

Everything went together perfectly. It used all the same wires at the T1819. Install was a breeze. Right now the only function I dont have is the BeSPOKE and Nav, but I can always add those in the future.

It should be. I reused all the same cables I got for the T1819 swap.

Man, I just installed a new Pioneer head unit with bluetooth. Yours looks pretty awesome with the Nav touch screen and the price is right. But Captain Practicality is weighing heavily on me while I contemplate buying another head unit when I have a perfectly good, new one in.

Beside the wiring harness to actually install this head unit. What else would a person need in order to get the navigation going? Also does this have an iPod input?

Ok. So Ive had a ton of messages over the last few days asking what all is needed to make this work in your 4Runner.

These are the parts I used, all of which I already had from doing the T1819 swap.
This is for a Non JBL system. I have no idea what you will need if you have JBL

pt546-00120-ad -antenna adapter, you will also need another metra adapter if you want to use both the stock antennas

pt546-00120-ch -this is the main harness, 20 to 28 pin adapter

pt546-74120-mc -this is the bluetooth mic kit. I know that the bluetooth would not work on the T1819 unless you had the mic, I do not know if that is the case with the FRS radio.

pt546-00120-us -USB adapter. This, with some modification, will allow you to plug a usb device into the unit.

There are other parts you will need if you want to have the Nav and BeSPOKE functions. I have not yet acquired these so Im not sure what the part numbers are yet.

Ive been using this for the last couple of days now and I love it. Definitely an upgrade over the T1819.

Ill update later once I find the Nav parts.
