Secondary Air Pump Mod Validity

I just installed mine on Monday, I would guess it depends on the environment you live in or if you go on dusty trails, etc. I would think once a year would be sufficient, but I plan to check it in the spring and see how bad it is. They're only 15-20 bucks so if they get too dirty I will just replace it

Doubtful much if anything, they're very small and don't appear to have much oil on them really. Not much more harm that foam coming apart and getting sucked into the fan at least lol

The only time oiled filters cause issues is when people don't read simple instructions and over oil them. 100K miles on the K&N filter on my wifes truck. Washed and oiled two or three times since installed and never an issue. I think i'll go with the UNI though simply because it's black and will blend in like it's OEM

Notice any additional noise or anything? Some people do, some people don't.
Would this void a warranty?I have had one on my 4runner for over a year. This is a well known problem on Tacoma's since they were one of the first victims to receive the crappy air pumps. Any way below are some pics of the one on my 4Runner never mind the air pumps location it has been moved to make room for a couple of other things. The only thing I have noticed is it makes the pump a bit louder as it probably breaths a bit better now.
With the factory cover on. Not worried about ingesting water on mine the truck will be floating before this thing takes in water on so I will have far greater issues....

A warranty on a part that is ruined by a lawnmower filter when it fails? No way, no how.

If the pump happens to fail under warranty, just put the OEM filter and cone back on before you bring it to the dealer. This is all 100% reversible with no evidence it ever happened.

No additional noise and I don’t know why would it be if installed correctly...

Agreed, I've run K&N's for close to 20 years, and had an oiled K&N in my last 2 4th gens and never had an issue or noticed any oil build up on my MAF or throttle body. I also washed and reoiled several times with no problems and I'm running one on my 5th gen also without issues
