Serious X-Mas Fab Work

I know this isn't a Toyota, but my 4Runner supervised the whole making of this.

I made this for my wife for x-mas. This is the first one I've done and am pretty happy with it. The bluing on the stem, base and leaves was done with heat. Then I ground the leaves basically leaving the blue only in the veins of the leaf. And the gold in the thorns is brazed brass.

I've already been hit up to make them. Not sure what I'd have to charge as it's not something I can just knock off in an hour and have it look nice.

Thats really awesome man. Very creative and detailed. I used to be into metal art work so I know the effort that goes into something like that. Im sure she will really appreciate it

dude that is bad ass! that must of taken hours and hours... i sure hope she appreciates that! and im sure she will. :artist2:

Thanks guys. She's a nurse and has to go take care of sick people tomorrow so she got it today. She's pretty used to seeing stuff I come up with, but she really loved this one.

Dude, you really need to produce those. I'm not kidding when I say that those are some of the best that I've seen made - and believe it or not, I actually know 2 or 3 guys who make them.

Thanks Kung. I've got a whole lot of ideas in my head that would take them way over the top as far as detail goes.

I have fun with the off road stuff, but I seem to be way more passionate about things like this. I was just talking with my wife about making a smallish tree for our yard. She's all for it. I'll have to really plan it out before I start that big of a project. Especially the way the wind can blow here.

Great work John! I'm sure your wife loves it way more than any store bought gift.

BTW, have you ever seen this guy's art? It's pretty awesome..

He does great stuff. I usually take the leftover gears and such and make some questionable (anatomically correct) yard art with it. Nothing detailed.

That is reallyy great! I went to school with a kid, David. You might like his web site Marble Country Metal Art you guys might be ble to swap ideas. This kind of art is not cheap as your time is valuable.
He does great work.
