Should I vinyl wrap my New Black hood to silver or not?

So drove a good 4+ hours to pick this hood up. Certifit cheapo for $50, installed it at his house and he recycled my old hood for me. Couldnt beat that till I find a good oem.

I have some vinyl wrap silver satin that I had bought to wrap the old pelted peeling silver hood. I usually dont like the black on silver hood as it just looks wrecked and junk yard replaced but the guy I bought from said keep it black. Wife says keep it black. What should I do?

Personally, I'm not a fan of the black hood. I've seen it a lot on the roads and stuff, mostly on Honda Civics because the paint peeled off. I think it's supposed to be a carbon-hood knock off kind of look.

That doesn't mean you shouldn't keep it that way though.

By the way, your daughter is super cute! My wife and I have our first on the way and I'm hoping it's a girl!

I feel same way as you. I never really liked it. Seems too look better with my bumper and grill and wheels than most I see. So far everyone that has seen it at work says keep it black.

Most kids here are past the black hood honda fad, its more purpose rust with clear coats and sticker bombs. Also plaid vinyl wrapped fenders. LOL.

If thats a new hood, thats never been painted, then its going to rust if you don't paint it. By the end of this year you'll be buying another hood bc of the rust, thats how bad it can be. The black primer that is on new hoods doesn't last long in the elements. But if its black paint your good.

Yes its the primer and yes I will be painting satin black with a paint gun if I do it.

LOL, yea the drift/stance is big with the kids.

Still thinking of wrapping or keeping black. Like stated I know after time the rust will bleed through so either wrap or paint black with my new paint gun.

Honestly the primer holds up fine. Mine was that way when I bought it, it's still that way now and I haven't had any issues with it.

I know primer can hold up well when sealed really well and an epoxy type. But not sure how well these aftermarkets are primed. How long have you had your hood on your 4runner in the elements?

I think it looks good black, but it is your rig so wrap it if it bugs you, but make sure to use 3m or good vinyl so it doesnt start cracking/peeling.

That primer doesn't hold up for sh!t. You'll jave rust in there in no time.

I think it looks good like that.

Spray some Matte Clear rattle can over it and call it good.

I'd wrap it satin silver... If you decide you don't like it I'd wrap the rest in satin silver!

LOL, thats how I feel about it. I dont want to spend too much money getting it painted as I want to find a good oem one day. Not worth spending few hundred to have color matched on a certicrap hood.

The black hood on the silver would bother me, but I am a little COD. However if you plan on replacing it I wouldn't want to drop a lot of money on it either. If it were me I would order some vinyl off ebay and wrap it.

I'm just gonna point this out, those of us who frequent forums for vehicles tend to be a bit more obsessive on things like color, looks, etc. than the average Joe. Like you mentioned, if you ask buddies at work/home they will probably have a different opinion since they are not borderline clinical OCD like all of us on here!

I have driven to denver and back to salvage yards to never find a sport hood, never right color and or damaged from hail. We had a some major hail storms, one in particular years back that messed up a lot of hoods. So far no luck finding junk yard hood that is clean.
