After a LONG wait I have a 4runner again, only 49,000 KM's (that's 30,445 miles form my American friends) , in service only 21 months a nice silver 08 Runner. Other than a couple of stone chips it's like new.

I'm pumped! :banana:

Dealer cleaning up those stone chips, having a clear hood film added and dealer replacing those stock junk tires (after I refused to accept them) with some BFG T/A KO's - pickup set for Friday WHAHOO!!! :zoom:

I'd like some advice on first mods, would like an CAI and minor lift or leveling, suggestions for other good first nods, best brands and where to buy would be great.

I think you'll find the CAI and a muffler or pipe addition to be your most satisfying addition right out of the gate. Congrats!

What size tire did you order?

You said you might want a minor lift/level. A lot of people run 265/70R17 or 255/75R17 with 1-2" lift in the front to level.

If you are thinking about a minor lift/level you may want to order 265/70R17 instead of factory 265/65R17. Most say only the BFGs (no other brand) barely scrub with no lift, but with the level they don't scrub at all.

Lifts have a large price range for the 4runner depending on what you want, with coil spacers from $40 up to around $1800 for remote reservoir coilovers. I would suggest looking through the tires/lift sticky thread.

Just thought I'd throw that out there in case you lift then want to up size the tire, so you don't have to buy tires twice.

I have an aFe CAI, bilstein 5100 leveling kit with FJ cruiser coils, & BFG AT 265/70R17s and I have been very satisfied with them. If I had it to do over again (and knew how much interstate driving I'd be doing now) I may have gotten a P metric AT like the bridgestone, goodyear, or hankook instead of the LT metric BFGs.

Definitely upsize the tires while you can. 265/70/17 or 265/65/18 depending on your wheel size. I had a shop install my daystar 2.5/1.5 in the GTA, if you're interested here's the contact info:

Also, if you think you will want to powdercoat or paint your wheels you might want to try to do it between the install of the tires. I wish I had.

Becaase the dealer is replacing them ("free" - you know buried in the price somehwere) I'm stuck with same size as original, It would be nice to grab the extra inch but that's life. They agreed to M&S replacements and I popped these on them as the ones I needed and they just ordered them (yes I'm a little devil at times....)

I was reading JA's page, the daystar type lift looks like what I'm after, as for the tires I was thinking of getting some FJ rims, powder coat and street tires for the summer months, and pop them up a size. Witht eh winters here the BFG's will come in handy, had michellins on my 2000 4R and they were slippery on snow and ice, not too happy, but great in water and dry pavment and a long life. I'd consider the Mich M/S2 they have superior water grip with the extra additives.

Cheers Doozi thanks for the input, I'll be pushing for the CAI, cat back and lift over the next year to get me started. I like the LED light mods, the extra light for older eyes won't hurt a bit .....

I'd go with a small lift, maybe 3/2 or just do a 2" spacer up front and level it. Look at my thread and you'll see the pics.

I'd seen those, it's near the top of my list they look great, did you get the regular or more expensive digital fit ones?
