Here's a picture from my garage this morning. Can you spot my 4Runner?
What we got is probably nowhere near as bad as what the east coast is getting I hear! :O
I'm so glad I have my 4R for days like this!

I dunno, Saskatchewan is pretty darn bad too. We got hit in Calgary as well. Nothing makes me happier than crushing snowy roads in my 4Runner with my Blizzaks on. I am even happier with my vehicle choice when I see fancy-boys in BMWs stuck on hills as I roll on by.

We've been lucky in London, ON too. Or, if you're like me and enjoy a little fishtailing around in the winter, unlucky. haha.
I also love blasting around in the winter while all the sportier cars are struggling to pull away from a light. Makes it all worthwhile! How do you like your Blizzaks? I put on Michelin x-ice, other than blowing one like 3 months after buying the set, I've been pretty happy with them.

The question is why is the 4R not IN the garage? I think I see a nice warm and dry space there!
No room unfortunately. Not seen are a couch and few other bits of furniture taking up the space. It's a double garage, but not a very big one. It's actually my Dad's place and I'm here because Mom has been in the hospital for several months now (dementia is a terrible thing). We did test fit the 4Runner back in november and there isn't much room for error parking in the garage. Now with the furniture there, well it stays outside until spring at least.

I like them, I got the Blizzak DM-V1s and they are probably the grippiest winters I have ever had. I have never had the X-ice but I heard they were great too.

To you guys talking about the Blizzaks, how do you like these tires when there isn't snow on the ground? As long as the temps are cold, how do these tires hold up on on the interstate at say 65 mph, normal driving conditions, etc. I just ordered a set of 4 of these Blizzaks DM-V1's for my 4R and will switch them out come April.

I was thinking the same thing. We got a bunch of snow here in BC a few days ago but not much since. It started raining the other day and then the temp dropped and every road around turned into a skating rink.

They're surprisingly good. I noticed they are a bit softer than the Geolandars that came stock but the difference is really minor. The weather here swings a lot due to the pressure changes so sometimes I am driving it at 40+ degrees Fahrenheit for a week or -30F and its fine either way. I do a lot of highway of and they have never bothered me at all.

Thanks very much, Lolrax, your comments give me some confidence. My objective is to be prepared, but also avoid snow if I can. I will be going back and forth from Oklahoma to Colorado to a ski condo over and over all winter long and won't purposely travel on bad days, but I am glad I am prepared either way. I understand the gas mileage won't be as good, but I don't care.

I wouldnt worry about it so much, you will want to find snow with these tires. The combo of the 4Runner and these tires takes the guess work out of most winter driving situations. My brother and I both have this setup and when we are driving together we barely change our driving habits while others are life and death-ing it around town.
