Snowdogyyz's 2013 TE " Build"

Some better pics of the Bajarack. A simple mod for two people, but by yourself is a little more challenging. Especially getting the rack up top. Took me about 2 hours roughly. Only difference on the install from other write ups on here I've seen is on the TE- you have no covers to pop off, just two bolts that use the star shaped ratchet bit.

Thanks for the additional pictures! And thanks to veloindy for the tip on the ToyTec discount. Just ordered my 5100s. I have to stop reading your thread before I run out of money....

Alright- Bilstein 5100's installed front and rear (2.5" up front; 1.5" daystar spacer in rear). Looks like about an 1.5" of lift or so. Ride is MUCH improved! Definitely a tighter feel, no more "floatiness" to it. Looks much better too! Thanks to the forum and FatTiresRollin in particular for all the info and suggestions! Next up- prestigious society Nav module and some tires.

Looks great bro! Just a quick question, you did the Bilstein 5100's on the Front AND rear? Then also put on DayStar spacer kit on the rear? I'm looking into doing the Bilstein 5100's as well, but I was hoping that having those in the front and rear would give me adequte lift?

It depends on how high you want to lift it. The 5100's don't provide any lift to the rear, just the front. As they come from the factory the rear is 2" higher than the front, but getting it "level" makes it look like it's got reverse rake. Most people like the looks best when the rear is about 1" higher than the front for just a slight amount of positive rake.

5100's can be set to 4 different settings in the front 0" lift, 0.85" lift, 1.75" lift, 2.5" lift. Again, the rear has no lift capability from just the shocks. Setting the fronts to 0.85" and no spacers anywhere puts the rear roughly 1" higher than the front - slight positive rake, looks good. Setting the the front to 1.75" with no spacers in the rear will measure very close to level. Some people like the look, some people think it looks like its got reverse rake (even though it doesn't). Set the 5100's to 2.5" in the front and leave the back untouched and you will have measured reverse rake and it will appear to have a lot of reverse rake.

If you want to lift the front 2.5" with the 5100's, then adding the 1.5" rear spacer brings the rear back to ~1" higher than the back and slight positive rake that most people find the most visually appealing.

Thanks man! Yeah, 5100's front and rear plus spacer in the rear. Canazes9 explains it perfectly. Without the spacer you will level the truck, but not lift it. I've seen pics of that on here and it looks great as well. I just wanted a little lift and this set up does that and it rides so much better as well.

Snowdogyyz Looks great! Truck is crying for new tires now...What's next?

Thanks Antman! I've been loving your build thread! I have the Nav module on the way. Such a pain to have to pull over and stop somewhere to edit destinations. On my FJC, it was as easy as grounding the parking brake wire! I thought about the other kit on the forum, but didn't want to cut any wires. After that, probably some tires (still 265's, but AT's). I've run Nittos for a few years, so probably those again. Then I will upgrade the stereo, keeping the stock head unit in tact, but adding amp, sub, and better speakers.

Thanks for the info guys!
Snowdogyyz, were you able to install the 5100's yourself? If so, spea tools needed? I'm pretty good mechanically, however I obviously lack a full scale shop in my garage. Do they require an alignment after install or is that just for UCAs?

This specific info is just terrific. It's helping me hone in on what's next for my truck.

I had a shop do it- I've neither the space, nor time ( and probably not a good enough mechanic to do it with confidence)! It is recommended to get an alignment afterward, as your caster is going to change. However, I believe numerous folks on this forum did the install themselves and could give you advice. From what I've read it doesn't seem to hard if you are a good mechanic!

I did a lot of research on this forum before deciding on this set up. Got some help and advice from a couple of members and they were spot on. The ride is much, much better now and it looks bad-ass! Do a search on this and there are several threads on what folks have done. Great resource here!

I am a little biased, but that lift set-up turned out great! The ride gets even better if/when you can add the aftermarket UCAs to get the caster back to +4. If you plan on sticking with 265s, I would recommend investing in some aftermarket wheels with a more aggressive offset or maybe just spidertrax. The stock sized tires may look sufficient to you now, but if you spend much time one here, you will probably want something bigger. An AT tire and more negative offset will give the illusion of a bigger tire. You have done your research and probably already have an idea of what you want...just my $0.2. Unfortunately I am famous for being impatient and making a decision to move forward with a certain MOD that seems sufficient at the time...but then not being happy with it a few months down the road. For example...my 4 month old N-Fabs are up for sale and I am slider shopping! My wife is not a fan of my modding habbit as it is...imagine my predicament when I must explain that the money/time I just spent a few months ago is no longer good enough :bash:

I know what you mean! I had installed a 3" rough country lift under my FJC and a few months later, changed it out for an Icon set up. The wife pressure for me not to go too far is immense this time, so I'm going to stick with 265's, but will go AT. I'll do a little at a time once the initial needs are met (Nav mod, tires, stereo). Maybe UCA'S down the road! I'm much happier already with the 5100 set up though.

Installed the Prestigious Society Nav module tonight. Very easy. Took about 30 minutes total. Works without having a button or switch to install (--++ on steering wheel controls). Can now change or enter destinations while moving! My wife does this as my passenger frequently, so she was good with this mod. Can also look up contacts or dial direct on the phone. Nice product with no wire cutting- plug and play. Great directions except that the pic of the back of the Nav unit was inaccurate. Still easy to figure out which plugs go where.

Ordered LT265/70/17 Duratracs's today. Install on Monday. Can't wait to ditch the crappy Grandtreks! Wanted to stay stock size to keep gas mileage close. The Dura's are much lighter that the BFG AT's, my other choice.
