So Cal 4Runner BS Thread

I know I haven't been on the forums much, had to come back on to research my lca rebuild. I didn't yet...all my parts came in last night though. I'm going to get started on it Saturday, I got a long list of things to install. I didn't end up getting the poly steering rack bushings, they were only $37 but probably another 3-4hrs of work :mad2:

Stuff to install:
-JBA uca
-Icon 2.5rr (extended) coilovers
-Moog lbj x2
-Moog inner tie rod x2
-Moog outer tie rod x2
-ES poly lca bushing kit
-ES poly front sway bushing

That's awesome, you're on it haha. Is that all spindle gussets that won't work with ball joint uca or just those particular spindles you got? Don't most gusset kits just need to be welded to the stock spindle?

That all you're doing? That's like a 4 hour job from start to finish easy depending on how bad your bolts are. Start soaking them with PB blaster now.

I have the total chaos gussets welded onto stock spindles. It thickens things up quite a bit is what it looks like so there's just not enough thread for the ball joint castle nut to pull the threads in. Talking with the guy that did it he said you can use ball joints with these gussets but there's modifications that needs to be done. He actually offered to do another set for me and straight trade for the ones I have, but that would mean pulling the spindles, bearings, seals, calipers, everything apart to swap over again. Turns out my buddy is upgrading to heim joint UCAs so I'm buying his TC uniball UCAs and then I have another buddy that was looking for UCAs for his 2wd so he's buying my Camburgs for the exact same price. Ends up being a wash, I just have to do some installation work.

How’d you like those Camburgs?

I loved them. Ball joints are still in great shape after 40k+ miles, even the bushings were in great shape except for 1 when I changed them out. Didn't make too much noise unless I really forgot to grease them for awhile.

My rig was in an accident, it sat in a shop for a month. I finally got it back and the avg mpg is very low (14mpg) is that normal? I've noticed that it started going back up as I drive it more.

Getting so close. UCAs got pushed back another week. Unfortunately.

I just wanna know what you guys paid for tint? I got quoted $500 for all windows plus windshield $399 without. Does that sound right? This is in San Diego btw.

Do you guys have any recommendations? TIA

It's a bit high. I'm in Orange County and I paid $250 for all windows and sunroof, no windshield. Granted I had him do my Cadillac at the same time, so maybe he gave me a bit of a discount, but it's still up there.

The guy I used used kind of shitty film, but I'm not too worried about it.

I used solar care. They came to my house and installed in my driveway. I paid $300 a few years ago for all windows but windshield and sunroof.

Find a 3M dealer with good yelp reviews. Their film is the best and the shops’ warranties are usually legit.

Yeah, I have 3M on my 07 civic si since the first week I got it. 10 years later...still perfect.

I guess I'm just gonna have to shop around then. Thanks guys

One thing is for sure. 315 KM2s are a hell of a lot louder than 255 KM2s. Rubbing cab mounts like crazy, but I'm too exhausted from this marathon weekend to cut them. Fenders are cut back about 1" now. We'll see how bad the back hits when I go out next weekend.
