No dash kit is required for these T9 4Runner units. These are not universal units. They also include plug and play harnesses for the 4Runner.
There are several other Android units that can be installed using the double din dash facia but they will not have that OEM fitment. The universal units can sometimes be ordered with a Toyota harness. The larger 10" screens stick out from the dash due to how they mount. Joying actually makes a few sizes of screens that mount like this. Flush mounted double din units just look tiny in the dash.
The Alpine model is not the same at all. These are Android tablets in a car head unit housing.
I just want to make I understand this correctly.
Will this headunit support the newest IOS for Apple carplay? I know they made several changes to the new IOS interface and I just want sure I'll be able to use those new features.
Also do y'all think these headunits will go on sale for black friday?

What's the verdict on 10-13 models and compatibility with these? Do they wire right up? Do steering wheel controls all work?
I was looking on YouTube and found this video. Never watched any of his stuff before so not sure how good of a source he is but he seems to like it...
Only thing I don't like is he said that wired carplay still requires a dongle but that he could use the factory USB outlet with the dongle? still confused a bit on that part

First i heard of Rhinoradios is Cartrim the actual company that "makes" this device from China? Or are they both just resalers of the T9?

They are both most likely just resellers. One thing to note with the Rhino Radios version is that it has a Dark Silver option which may match closer to Charcoal dash. Don't expect a one-to-one with these units though. OS and other things might vary slightly from each other.

They are all just resellers. You can find several other sells of the T9 on aliexpress and other sites. Most are around CTH's price. rhinoradios.com is selling for significantly less. Wonder if they are the store front for the factory that makes them. rhinoradios.com has a promotion right now too. Get a free accessory with purchase. Up to $70 value.
my issue is that their site lists 3 colors and shows the specs for the t8 regardless of which radio you pick. all others seem to only have two colors, black and the dark silver.
i'm sure they're mostly all the exact same unit, but something even more ambiguous than cartrimhome AND at such a large price difference, i'd be very skeptical.

I chose the camera and haven’t installed it yet. It connects with usb and I want to use it as a rear view so I need to sort out the wiring.
I have heard of others getting the wired CarPlay dongle since the wireless CarPlay has issues. I had one that I was using with an android tablet. Using the dongle and having a wired CarPlay connection is way more stable.

Amazon had these on for $29 a few weeks back. I used a 3.5mm to RCA cable and connected it to the AUX inputs on the T9 and got an adapter to connect to the factory XM antenna.

Ugh, I decided to pull the trigger on this unit. I just don't like my other options at the moment and don't see anyone else coming out with a better form factor. I hate myself for doing it but since it's done I need some info. Could you share some screenshots of the "About Device" in the settings. Looking for cpu specs, build version, kernel version, etc.
I also plan on using the metra sharkfin adapter to hook up existing antenna to the unit. This also requires a SMA to SMB coupler so I'll see how this works out.
Also, it looks like they include an external mic. Is this the case? Does it look like the facia can be separated from the screen easily for painting?
