So ticked off!!

I never realized that sliders would protect from door hits. I would be all over them, but I have running boards and I think the wife and kids would struggle using the sliders to get in and out.

I called my body shop (one I have used for years and have a lot of confidence in). The owner commented that the issue with metallics is getting them to blend properly. If you just paint the single panel it won't match the other panels if they aren't blended in. He said if it's below a visual body line, they may be able to blend it in just below that with good results. Since it's through the clear coat down to the primer, at the very least he will fill them with touch up paint, no charge. I feel better about having them do the touch up than me trying it with Dr. Color Chip. It'll be a couple of weeks before I can get it in for them to take a look at, but I'll report back.

That's why I welded steps to the sliders...although the look isn't the greatest...it certainly protects the truck sides. And believe it or not, several times off road I've smacked the hell of them as well..saving the side of my truck I'm sure.

I also think some slider manufucturers are now offering something very similar.

When I was young and foolish in High School, I parked my first car (a Ford Fiesta) at school and went to class. Later, when I returned to my car, I found a guy I disliked had parked his Mom's Volvo next to me and had left a bad door ding, complete with matching paint. I went home and got the old beater family station wagon (1972) with really heavy doors and drove back to school. I parked in the same spot and then proceeded to open the door with both feet as hard as I could 10-15 times into the Volvo. The door ding on the Volvo was impressive indeed.

if they were still in the car, why didnt you say something to them?

I didn't see the damage until after they pulled away. Even if I did, a car full of what I assume to be illegal immigrants and me with my wife and 3 and 8 year old daughters. At best I would have gotten a lot of aggravation, at worst, who knows.

Since I didn't see it in the act they would have certainly denied it and I doubt they had insurance.

I was in our other car and got rear ended by a Garda security truck. We were stopped in traffic and just started to move. He bumped me twice, scared the hell out of me. When we pulled over the damage was minor bumper damage and that guy tried go deny he did it!! I got that paid for, but my point here is, given the nature of people in these situations if that guy was willing to deny he did the damage to my bumper, I sure don't believe this group of POS low lives were going to own up to it.

I am honestly glad I didn't see it before they pulled away, otherwise I would have been tempted to get into it with them. It certainly isn't worth risking my family over.
