Oh I'm very sure I was doing something wrong, it was the first lift I've ever done, and I was doing it on my own. I was struggling for hours with a coil spring compressor tool I rented cursing to the high heavens and swearing I would never do it again.

I had the same kind of issue when I installed my lift. The old springs did just "fall out" after allowing the rear axle to reach full droop, shocks removed, swaybar removed and jacking up the opposite side of the axle. I did however have issues installing the new LC 8 wrap coils and ended up using a coil compressor for the one side. Even with everything disconnected and nothing supporting the rear axle except the control arms it would only droop so far. I think it has something to do with the control arm bushings being seized at "factory" height for so long.

Well I only got the weekend off of work and tomorrow its back to the hill for 4 weeks so I didn't have to to install my snorkel.
Most snorkel install threads I've read have stated that the supplied template is off and that to do it right you need to double and or triple measure before you cut/drill the holes and I didn't want to do a rush job so it'll have to wait til my next break.
I wasn't entirely idle, I modified a set of 4XRAC with a couple pieces of 3/16 aluminum plate and mounted my Hi-Lift to the side of my roof top cargo basket.
I also swapped out a bad oil seal on the passenger side of my front diff.

Well swapped in an Airaid M.I.T. and happy with it so far. Just took the 4runner for a 600km weekend trip down island.
Trying to decide whether or not to do the deck plate mod as well...
Will hopefully get time to finally install my hilux 167 snorkel tomorrow.

Finally got around to installing my snorkel. Definitely easier said then done. Took nearly an hour before I could muster the courage to make the first cut. Then after lots of swearing and some sunlight dish soap it all came together. Thanks to all those who went through this battle before me, you advise was crucial to my success.

Now I've got to do something about the front (and rear) bumper. Anyone have any idea when Savage is gonna release their next gen rear bumper with tire carrier? Sure like their product, but I can't wait forever...

Been awhile

Wow, just realized it's been almost year since my last post. A lot has changed.

I've got an ARB front bumper with a Warn VR 8000. A savage offroad rear tube bumper and some LED's.

Also install a set of Lotus RCAMS and a gobi ladder.

Update

Mounted up my TredPro traction mats that finally arrived. Re spooled my winch with spectra rope and flushed the Power Steering fluid.

Next up is the long overdue TBU, will start gathering the necessary parts soon.
Then I plan on building a DIY hitch mounted spare tire carrier. Tired of the spare riding around on top in the basket. Taking up too much space and no good for my COG.

Thanks very much for taking the time to have a look. I don't update it as much as I should. It's a work in progress. Don't know if I'll even be satisfied. Thinking of ways to make it better has become an obsession.
