I just sold my 08 tacoma today and Im very close to pulling the trigger on a 2010 4runner and I was hoping this forum could feed me some advice. Im mainly wanting to know if there are any differences between the 2010-2012 models. I can see they look the same, but were there any issues with the earlier models? Also, what exactly comes with the trail edition? Skewp hood is obvious, but what other options are you getting with it? Thanks for any advice you can give me.

Hello drtydru and welcome to T4R forums. There isn't much difference between the 2010 and 2012 T4R besides some stereo upgrades on certain packages for the 2012 model. Since you already had a Toyota before I won't go into detail about their reliability and lack of problems even for the 2010. The TE model comes with; the Hood like you said, blacked out accents, fender flares and black roof rack, water resistant seats, lockable rear diff, crawl control and optional kdss suspension that allows more travel in the suspension at lower speeds. I don't own TE so Im sure more will chime with more details.

Pretty much this + multi-terrain ABS which will just vary the amount of wheel lock dependent on the terrain. Cool system, but not that big of a deal. Also, you will get different gauges which look better IMHO. KDSS is one of the major reasons that people get the Trail. The larger sway bars improve on-road handling. 2010's have no major issues compared to other years. Search the forum for a million opinions on Trail vs. non Trail, KDSS and what not.
