Here's a couple bad pictures. One of the tape and one of the cross bars. The cross bars sit above the side rail when pushed down as far as they will go.

Just wanted to let you know we got your email and it does look like the material shifted during the laser cut. We're going to get another side rail sent out to you as that appears to be the only fix. Check your email tonight or tomorrow with the full resolution.

I have a different problem that I try to solve. The last rear cross bar mounting holes are offset

Ok, so i went out and installed some cross bars on our 4runner mule and I believe you just need to simply loosen the bolts for the entire roof rack and scoot it back a tad. There should be enough wiggle room to do this. I included some pics to show you what kind of distances you should be seeing.

I did lose all the mounting bolts trying to pull back the rack, not enough clearance. Maybe your shark fin antenna is smaller. I made it work at the end

Clear vinyl? I was thinking that it should have been included as the windscreen's rubber that touches the roof rubs against the paint.
Can you post pic of the vinyl?

You should be able to take off the wind fairing by removing the 2 screws from each side rail, install the vinyl and reinstall the wind fairing.

Sorry for the delayed response TodiN. Darn job got in the way of my off-roading fun. But it looks like Tundra555 beat me to the picture. The vinyl just comes in a roll with a white backing paper. I’m hoping to get it installed this weekend. If so, I’ll take some pics along the way to post.

Here are a few pics from the install of the vinyl. As you can see it comes in a rather unremarkable roll. It needs a bit of trimming but no big deal; took 10 seconds and a pair of scissors. I taped it on to get placement and trimming right then just peeled and rolled.

I’ve also included a few pics of the full roof rack . . . because who doesn’t like posting pictures of their rig.

Weather proof

For those who have installed the rack...did you feel like there is adequate weather proofing of the mounting holes/brackets? The reason I ask is bc my rack should be on its way in the next few weeks and I am making a list of all the extra stuff I’ll need for the install.

I used silicone per the instructions and after complete with install added a little more around bolts. No leaks...and its seen plenty rain and washings.

I believe SSO has an option to order powder coated cross bars and you can order it. Keep in mind that anything you put on the rack will scratch those cross bars.
If you want black hardware (bolts), https://www.tnutz.com/ has good prices (they have also good prices on 47" 10x20 powder coated cross bars)

Has anyone installed a light bar along with this rack?

For me, its a choice between SSO and Prinsu--i am not seeing a big difference between the two except for price and drill/no-drill on the racks.

It probably uses the same hardware as my Tepui Ayer. If so the tent will come with M6 bolts and nuts already. The bars underneath are also preset for a 2" or 3" crossbar like this rack has. You will probably want shorter bolts than what it comes with (3" I believe). You want not more than 2" long or they may contact the roof. I would recommend pre-measuring the distance between crossbars on the rack first, then remove 2 crossbars to attach the RTT to. It will be easier to install the tent to the crossbars with them off the rack, then lift the entire assembly onto the rack, and bolt the crossbars in. Lay a couple 2x4's lengthwise underneath the crossbars to keep the tent bolts off your roof while bolting the crossbars up. The rack crossbars are equal distances from front to rear so it's is just a matter of figuring out which 2 crossbars you want to use. My Ayer is only a single so I'm going with 2 locations 23" apart on the rear half of the rack. Your Sky 3 is about 5" wider so you should be able to use the same spacing because the tent will still rest on the 2 inner crossbars it's not bolted to as well as 2 outer ones if you don't leave any spaces under it.

I haven't mounted mine yet because I am trying to make a way to swap it between the 4Runner and a trailer while using the same 2 crossbars in both locations. I've drawn up a template and am taking the trailer to a welder later this week to see what they can do to make a sort of exoskeleton for it that will have 2 side rails with the same mounting points.

The new wind fairing with 40" led flush mount is almost ready. We're sending the final test unit to powder tomorrow. It can accommodate the 40" Heise, Rigid or Baja Designs light for sure, and probably a few others with its universal fitment ability.

I'm hoping to get it before my trip this april. I may temporarily mount the tent to the OEM rack rails if it looks like I wont get it in time. I don't have the crossbars but someone else mounted it this way and said it should be fine. Preferred would be with the new rack!
