I just did an upgrade, speakers and NVX Sound deadening in all doors.
2017 TRDORP

Infinity Reference REF-9620cx 6"x 9" Component System
In the front doors and dash. I highly recommend replacing the factory 6x9s, they were paper and shit. The new ones sound great. You'll need brackets and a little custom mounting for the in dash tweeter.

Kenwood KFC-1665S 6-1/2" 2-Way Speakers
In the rear doors. I could not find a set of stand alone Infinity speakers that would fit.
Most were 5 1/4" and part of a component system. Checked out Crutchfield, Amazon and even the Infinity site. If you can find some please let us know, because I'll order a pair as well and put the Kenwoods in the tailgate, as you said, they are so far back there it won't matter much.

Tail Gate = No replacement yet.

From a sound perspective I think because I cheaped out on the rear doors they could sound better than they do.

I ordered a set of JBL GTO329 for the dash and 2 sets of JBL GTO629 for the rear doors and tailgate. Thinking about the JBL GTO939 for the front doors but not sure yet. I have a JL Audio 10TW3 which i'll likely fabricate a fiberglass enclosure for a tuck into the passenger 1/4 panel. When that happens, my ARC Audio XDi 1100.5 will go in.

I used the Toyota Audio Solutions wiring harness that plugs directly in between the factory head unit and whatever processor you're using. I originally used the AudioControl LC7i but decided to pick up the Toyota Audio Solutions processor that has a built in equalizer.

In the front door I'm using a set of 6 1/2" 3-way CDT Anniversary Edition components with the upstage tweeters up on the dash in place of the factory tweeters. In the rear doors I used 4" 2-way CDT Anniversary Edition components. Rear hatch fills are Rockford Fosgate Prime R1525X2 since they are a direct replacement sizing. Subs are 10" MB Quart Reference DVC's.

Fronts and rears are driven by a CDT SQL 4075 4-channel amp and the subs are run by a CDT SQL 1000 mono amp.

The goal was to hide all components and keep some level of functionality of the rear cargo section. This was actually my first attempt at a full audio install in one of my vehicles.

Nice looks great. Moving those 4" to the back was a bad idea though. Going to be very lacking up front since the system is designed as a 3 way front stage. Move those 4" to the dash and get yourself something else for the rear doors. You'll be much happier that way.

Not sure I understand.......new front stage uses a 2 way component system in the front doors and then an upstage tweeter in the dash, so it's a 3-way replacement. Rear door speakers are basically fill speakers but I had a set of 4" components and the rest of the speakers left over from my RX330 so I reused the equipment.

Rear door speakers are basically fill speakers but I had a set of 4" components and the rest of the speakers left over from my RX330 so I reused the equipment.

Ah I got ya. I thought the system was a 3 way being a 6.5" woofer, 4" mid, and a tweet. If that was the case, moving that 4" woofer to the rear door would be a mistake.

Look into some deadening material. you'll be happy you did. Made a huge difference for me.

I did....not as extensive as what you did, but I did the floors, hatch and inside part of the door skins.

I've had 2 vehicles sponsored by CDT and have to say they are pretty good SQ setups. Not quite Hertz or Focal but very good.

I have Audison (same as Hertz) in my LS and love them !!!

Yeah I think CDT is more geared towards SQL rather than SQ but they are a very well made speaker. It was hard to decide between the Hertz and Rainbow but I am very happy with the Hertz. Focal makes a great woofer and mid but their tweeters are very bright IMO.

I think so too.......I run all Focal Beryllium's in my home theater and it's bright there so I can imagine them in a car.

I'm interested in how you installed your 3-way setup. Did you put the 3" in the dash and make custom a pillars for the tweeters?

6.5 and tweet in the door, 3 in the dash. Generally I like to keep tweeters higher BUT these are very bright. I had to drop the EQ and that is will the stereo control all flat. Plenty of highs and I angled them for imaging as best as possible. They sound awesome. I actually have a set of them for sale if you're interested.

Does no one make an adaptor plug for the dash speakers? Not a big deal to solder into but I like keeping OEM plugs in place when possible.

cut off the oem plugs off the old speakers and solder to new speakers.

I know how to do it, was looking for a plug. I prefer not to cut when I don't have to but I will if need be. Got these set up and ready to go in next week.

Anyone here willing to give up their stock dash tweeters? I don't need brackets, just tweeters. If not local I will of course pay shipping. I'm sure someone has theirs that they'll never use again.

What I did to make my own adaptors. No need to remove the factory crossover or anything. Desolder the 2 wires going to the original tweeter, leave the capacitor in place, solder as pictured. This method offers a plug and play option, nothing cut or removed, easy to return to original if you want to. Sorry for the big pictures. Posted from my phone and no idea how to resize them.

Hey just saw this for some reason. Yes I installed the 6x9s in the front doors. They are cleaner than the OEM 6x9s but I don't think they respond as low. Factory stereo without an aftermarket amp really can't drive them properly.
