Sprint Booster

I sell BOTH, but removed the pc because it's given my many returns and causes interference with the 4Runner Blutooth in the radio, etc. Also, it's not Patented like the sprint booster is, also it's much larger, you can't disconnect the controller and I've just had too many returns and issues and some just dying. The Sprint Booster just works better and made in Greece vs china and has better circuitry also. :)

Ok, just installed mine.

All I can say is this should be a stock accessory.

I have been vehicle shopping for the past 2 months trying to take advantage of the COVID situation. A new 4Runner was the first thing I drove since I was a 16 year owner of a 2005 V8. I couldn't believe how ... unresponsive they were.

So then I made the rounds going to all the major brands etc and was this close to pulling the trigger on a new Sierra AT4. Left the dealership w/out signing because I wanted to test drive a Tacoma one more time and I really don't want a truck that gives me just 2 spare feet in my garage.

Got to the dealer and there was a pretty red 4Runner sitting right there and my son asked me to test drive the big brother of our current one just one more time. TLDR; I left knowing I wasnt extremely happy w/ the performance but loving the vehicle all the same.

Now I am happy w/ the performance :D

So... what disadvantages are there for running it on Race 5 all the time?
 
Bought the Sprint booster v3 for my 5th gen 4runner last year. Made a huge difference. I liked it on sport mode level 9. Unfortunately just sold my 4runner but took out the booster. It's available if anyone wants to buy it. I will include shipping. $260.

Glad you liked it. It's definitely a must on this vehicle and the Tacoma, etc. They are all super bad with the factory delay. It's now my best selling part!

Just got my SB yesterday, and installed it right away. My own .02: I removed the (2) 10mm nuts so to gain easy access the the clip on the connector that you need to disconnect. (they put it facing the center console, and my big mitts struggled to get in there to try to get it unclicked.

First impressions upon driving it:

There is definitely a marked improvement big time! I like the available power now, where it wasn't before. Negative? There is still quite a noticeable lag when you put your foot down. It's just like a turbo lag imho. 1+ seconds before the power comes on. If you can live with that lag, the rest of the added performance is really nice. Overall I like it, but the lag is annoying considering how great the device is at everything else it does.

You will learn you know have to stomp on it. When I'm having road rage that's the only time I wish it didn't lag. I never notice it in any other situation.
 
I installed the sprint booster on my 2018 4R about 3 months ago, I did the proper installation where you open the door and wait 10 min, etc.

No issues at all so far.

One thing I noticed that I did not see in the reviews, besides the faster throttle response, the 4R upshifts faster if I push the gas pedal a bit more, like if I want to pass a car, or speed up on the highway.

Before, I had to push the pedal quite a bit for the 4R to upshift, and quite often it would upshift 2 gears or more - the engine would all of a sudden rev very high and the 4R would jump forward.

With the sprint booster it is much easier to control the upshifts.

I set it to green level 8. The red is waaaaay to responsive and hard to control for me.

I’ve had a SB on my 18 ORP for over two years. Same as you; set at Green 8. For the heck of it while driving around town the other day I turned it off, back to the OEM setting. I went home and forgot about it.

The next day I get on a 4 lane highway and slowly merge into traffic. A few minutes later I try to goose it with my normal foot pressure to pass a car and WTF??? No response! I wind up having to mash the pedal almost to the floor, where at Green 8 it used to be just a small foot movement to get the same response. The OEM drive-by-wire programming is really annoying.
