Sprint Iphone 5/4S

First review of 4S: iPhone 4S Review - Walt Mossberg - Personal Technology - AllThingsD

Wow, i am impress!! I have always been impress with Iphone 4 camera...but this 4S is even better! Siri sounds like a great addition as is IOS5.

I love this about Siri:
When I asked it “What’s the best phone?” it said, “Wait… there are other phones?”

:bigok:

Check this one out Thai, some more questions for and from Siri. The how old are you and I love you are funny.

I've always used Samsung "dumb" phones on Sprint. Despite most Sprint employees' preference for Sanyo phones, I had a good experience with Samsung and I like their interface and menu better. They truly know how to make good use of the soft keys on their phones.

I've had Palms for my prior smart phones and then an HTC Touch Pro 2. HTC has treated me well and as well other people who have their smart phones. Based on prior experience with Samsung, I also considered their Android offerings. But two things that turned me away from Samsung is one lack of updates (as Thai mentioned, again, non issue for rooted Androids) and two as beautiful the AMOLED screen is very power hungry. I'm not saying that Samsung phones are bad at all or that HTC is better. Sprint's Android offerings are very compelling and the decision between each isn't easy. IF I was on VZW, then there's no question about it, it'll be the Bionic.

I love my Sanyo phones...esp. the ones with the pull-out antenna! Great reception. Too bad, Sanyo can't make a good smartphone.

My Epic was power hungry for sure, but i blamed this on SAMOLED and Eclair...i heard that Froyo helped a bit with battery life...and Gingerbread improved it further. It was not that big of a deal for me because i am surrounded by computers all day long...so, i just carry a cheapo USB cord (via Ebay) around with me in my jacket and plug it in as needed. My car had a charger too. So, it was never low on juice.

When i get my Iphone 4S next month, i will do the same...i already have USB cords in my office for my Ipod Touch 4G (very power hungry due to small battery)...so, no new equipment needed.

Ok, just bought Nexus S 4G...and it is VERY cheap!!

Basically, we got the family plan ($129/mo). I got Sprint to give me 6pm for free. My Iphone 4S is coming next month once i have my upgrade discount. With Sprint, anytime you order a smartphone with their data plans, you are charged $10/month ("premium data charge"). After next month, my bill will be charged with $10/month on top of the family plan cost.

My wife's line is ready for upgrade now. So, i bought the Nexus S 4G via Sprint.com. It is only $30 after rebates, blah, blah. In addition, as a bonus, i do NOT have to pay $10/mo "premium data charge" with the Nexus S!! We just saved $120 annually by going with this phone! :zoom:

Thus, after next month and my Iphone 4S, we will pay $139/mo. only instead of $149/mo!! And i will get 6 pm calling free! :) All with unlimited data & texting.

Gotta love Sprint...i just hope that they won't go out of business anytime soon!

Sorry about my ramblings...but if you're on Sprint, then you know what i am talking about...these plans are very confusing!

How did you not get charged the $10 a month premium data plan for the Nexus S?I thought they made you get it with a smart phone.

Got my Epic 4G Touch ported over from ATT iPhone yesterday.Love it! Man they've come a long way on the speed of porting.....Sprint tech said 6 minutes and only took 4! Streaming the Penguin/Capitols hockey game from my Slingbox right now at work thru it with pdanet. Unlimited data again and loving it!

Going to try to find a Sprint iPhone 4S for my daughter tomorrow morning.Heard there was a shortage of 16gb ones so we'll see.

A special offer I guess for nexus s. I did not find out until i went thru the purchase process...it was a pleasant surprise!

Wow, that must be nice on that BIG screen of yours!! :)

I am getting the 32gb for myself next month...and like you, i hear that the 16gb are gone. I am still hesitant about this iCloud thingy...because i am still not clear on how you DELETE things from iCloud, like apps or pictures. From what i can see, once you upload, it does not go away. Need to read more about it.

My brother's 4S has arrived. He went with the 16GB, pre-ordered on Saturday. He'll use Premier to get the 5 if it comes out next year.

Awesome Thai, surprised you were able to get two savings! They wouldn't budge with me for freebies, but I managed to get free 200 text on my mom's line on an old plan to cover spam texts send to her phone. She won't be texting anyone.

So far, in a week, I've downloaded over 300MB and uploaded 100MB. I would be take chances with overages on a 2GB plan.

Looks like I'll have to go the PDAnet route until a root solution is available for Evo 3Ds with Hboot 1.50.

Is he upgrading or is he starting a new line? For me, since i am going to upgrade to 4S next month, i will be stuck with it for 20 months. Despite Premier status, i canNOT upgrade to Iphone 5 next year because i "already" use my Premier upgrade status this year. I don't know about a new line today and whether you can upgrade next year, but for upgrading like me, you're stuck for 20 months. And i have asked multiple Sprint reps about this...and the answer is consistent.

Ok...before anyone jumps, i am not sure about this...i will know with my first bill cycle.

BTW, i heard a few things more:

Sprint and Verizon Iphone 4S are true world phones. Verizon will unlock your 4S for international calls (via GSM card purchased oversea) after 60 days. Sprint 4S already comes unlocked.

ATT Iphone 4S is locked...and ATT will NOT unlock it...thus, forcing you to pay thru the nose for its internation call rates.

Starting next month, Apple will sell unlocked Iphone 4S. Until then, Sprint and Verizon's Iphone 4S are more attractive than ATT's version to folks who travel a lot overseas.

its so expensive i was really looking forward to pay like 200 bucks for the new iphone then long behold they price it as high as a ODL bumper, i much rather have the bumper to be honest

What is too expensive?? It is 200 bucks (for 16gb model) if you have the upgrade discount or opening up a new line. Price outside these two conditions are consistent with the past. Price is same as ever before. I don't understand.

i went to the website the phones are listed from 600-800, i have the evo 4g right now with the famliy plan, so i can go to the store and ask for the 16g iphone 4s for 200? please let me know

Well, those prices are consistent with the past. For example, go look up the "undiscounted" price of Evo 4G...it is probably around $450. This price may have come down since this is a relatively old phone.

As i wrote above, it depends on the status of your upgrade discount. You can check this by going to Sprint website...log in...and then check your upgrade status. If you are eligible for the upgrade discount, then yeah, you can get an Iphone 4S for $200 (16gb), $300 (32gb), and $400 (64gb). If you're not eligible for the upgrade discount, then you pay the full price ($650-850). Iphones have always cost a little bit more than their equivalent Android competition.

When was the last time that you upgraded your phone? If it was about 2 years ago, then you should be eligible for an upgrade now or soon. If it has been less than 2 years, then you pay full price.
