Squeaky A/C Fan

Have been getting a constant sweak from the fan in dashboard when its run in the low and medium position. Doesn't matter if its with the heater or with the AC. It disappears when I turn it on high. Kinda pain though to drive around all the time with it on high...

Question is whether I can get to this annoying little piece of automotive equipment or not without destroying the entire dashboard. I would love to know where it is and if I can get to it to lube the little #@$!* before it drives me nuts...can anybody help?? I would appreciate it greatly.

Not sure what year your truck is. I looked it up as a 97.

Alldata says to remove the glove box and then remove the blower motor. It only calls for 1/2 hour

I just replaced my blower motor for the same reason. The blower motor is located under the glove box. The only thing you have to remove is cowl side trim to access a bolt.

My 4R is actually a 2000 SR5 but the diagram looks promising,,,guess I got a project for the weekend!

Thanks guys!

It's not a project at all. If you want to just swap it out it will take all of 15 minutes. Get under there and you will see all you need is a philips screwdriver. Take off the passenger side threshold and kick panel, then remove the three screws holding the blower motor and fan in place. Unplug and inspect, maybe you can just throw a lube on it to stop the squeak. Sorry man, you are going to need a bigger project to justify that case of beer :p

the diagram came from factory service manual 96-02.
Lube? that could work, why didn't I think of that? I still have my old one, I'll lube it to see if the squeak goes away.
