Stolen 4Runner, Grants Pass, OR

Saw this on NW-Wheelers.org this morning and thought I'd share. Didn't know they found the rig yet. I'm glad they caught this one. Too many are stolen and ever found. Shit like this makes me paranoid. God help the person that steals my rig.
 
I still want to know how they freaking stole it. I guess with the gov't shut down there's no one to keep track of hits on google the consist of the phrases "how to steel a 4Runner", "how to hot-wire a car" etc etc...

Almost makes me want to install a hidden battery kill switch.

This sucks.
 
This is some BullS%^&! I'm glad they are in custody for this. As said before I have little hope they will do much time at all. That was such a nice 4Runner and the amount of work put into it and the quality was out standing! I hope the insurance company took care of him even though I know he will not get all that back he invested into the truck.

man that was a nice rig, that's couple beat down's waiting to happen, more so for hatefully rolling the 4runner after stripping it. on second thought, I don't think a beat down would help these two bum's. wasn't there a white 4runner on the crack head's property? The police could impound that ugly thing and donate it to the victim.... considering he and his buddy did their job. good to hear how the community came together to help find the 4runner, [MENTION=91297]Kraze[/MENTION] hope that restored your faith brother:)

Probably wouldn't have helped. These guys obviously have a flat bed available since they were able to transport the stripped, wheel-less body. They probably used it to steal it. A strange tow rig in a gas station at night probably does not raise any eyebrows of anyone not involved with the station. In and out in two minutes, probably with flashing lights on. Just takes balls and no brains--meth head territory, for sure.
 
They said they recovered all the bumpers and wheels and shit so I bet insurance payed for truck damage. He probably got screwed in labor though. That shit is pricey, even if he did the work, the time is priceless.
 
I live here in grants pass, This 4runner belonged to my husbands friend. I wrote a thread on the Toyota theft problem here about a year or so ago. This is the first time for that generation to be stolen, and be recovered within a few miles. The reason i think is due to the type of engine it has. Generally it's always the first generation 4runners and trucks. They have stolen over 20 first generations in one month! 99% of them are taken into Cave Junction and O brien. if you do happen to find/ recover it. The vehicle is not able to be rebuilt. These loser's use a cutting torch removing the whole frame. There are a few of us just waiting to catch one of theses guys and use him as an example. We are sick of it. this has been going on for over ten years. my 87 4runner was stolen in 2005. Not pretty when i "recovered it"
 
Man I'm only 25 minutes away from there. Definitely a lot of meth down here and a lot of other drugs as well. Would have loved to see that rig in person. Apparently its easier to steal a car then get caught doing 3+ mph over the speed limit on highway 62 here in Medford. Not the fault of the police but it shouldn't be so easy to steal a rig and get away with it.

That is some BS. In the greater LA area at one time there was a huge car theft issue. It is not as bad now but still non the less this is unacceptable. Is there any update to this point. I"m guessing they totaled out the Runner after they rolled it down the hill or what ever that was.
