So the winchlock ($20 unit) doesn't require drilling, but instead requires a larger fender washer? That's good news.

It looks like it has a cover for the lock, and a grease fitting.
I'll post pics and details when I get mine. You also need to grease the spare tire carrier and winch yearly. They can rust and fail as well.

As I think I said, it is very tricky getting the thing just right. And I noticed over the weekend that the wheel is cocked just slightly, when looking at it from the rear. You have to stand back to notice. I played with it a little, but wasn't able to get it 100% straight.

I installed mine this afternoon and I didn't have a problem getting the spare to align straight. It fit back up there just perfectly. I didn't take any pictures but if you follow the instructions and drill the 3/8" hole you should be fine.
Terry, I took at look at the picture you posted and it appears you have it installed incorrectly. This most likely is the problem. The hole you should have put the bolt through needs to be drilled out.

No problem. The top of that cover actually has an opening towards the back for one to slip in a wrench or something similiar. it's tight but it definitely works to tighten the bolt. Once you do that make sure to align the bracket correctly. The holes need to be facing the rear of the truck.

yes i veiwed his other items on sale and it's quite suspicious.

notice the "light marks" inside one of the spokes he mentioned. could it be he was in a hurry and scratched it with his tool? i know i may be jumping to conclusions, but you must admit....quite suspicious. looks like a tight squeeze between the spokes, and it's hard to get a scratch there in normal driving. if i were to take a guess......it belongs to your boss.
