Straightforward 4-6" 99 Lift

Please just an answer would be appreciated regular item numbers would be nice. What do i need for this lift? I would like it to be functional and good for just good mudding fun. I have read about fj lifts tacoma lifts and many others, can some one just give part numbers and or the company with the best lift package.

For the front end you'll need to get a 96-04 Tacoma 6" drop bracket lift from either Fabtech or Tuff Country (5").

For the rear you can use FZJ80 (Land Cruiser) coils.

There isn't any difference between the front end of the 4Runner and Tacoma.
 
You options are to either do a drop bracket lift which really isn't a good one or do a combination of a suspension left and a body lift. Is there any particular reason you need to go up 6"? You can find many, many 3" suspension lifts just simply by using the search function. Can't really go taller than that with the IFS front end of the 4Runner. Grab a 1" body lift and ere's your 4" lift.

Side note: I think you'll find this forum very resourceful and most of the members more than willing to help. But learn how to search first.
 
I'll help! Later though. Right now Im busy reaseaching stuff for my truck. Because thats how I learn how to do stuff like lift it . . . by researching :lol:
 
I think in this case 2wd vs 4wd matters as well. Gonna burn through CV boots.

Are you in HI?
 
You could also go with a 3" suspension lift and then do a 1-2" body lift. Sounds like that would put you right where you want to be.
 
Typically the drop bracket lifts will not increase the clearance between the front wheels (they drop a bracket to drop the front diff between the wheels). This will make a great mud plow.
 
what about tundra TRD front with maybe 1" spacer on top. maybe 8-9 wrap FJ's on back, and a 1-2" body lift?. that would get you up there a lot and could run 35"s easy. wouldnt drop anything down, still pretty functional, but would be hard on the truck.
 
ok ill pitch in, listen man 6" is freakin awesome and it looks cool as heck, but for real functional wheeling, its not gonna happen, these arent trucks, center of gravity is much different in these trust me, moving from an 02 tacoma with 38's and 9" of lift to my 4runner with about 3" of lift, is a world of difference. If you are going for ground clearance then go a 3" lift and a 1-2 BL and 35" there you go easy, which can be done with LC coils out back, and some nice toytec coil-overs or other combos, and of course the body lift. If you really want to go with the 6" lift, go Fabtech 6" lift and some new coils out back, done but you will only still be able to get 35's on it and you will actually end up with less ground clearance which = no good in mud, trust me, been there. Do some research for the 4runner stuff, if you want the Fabtech 6" then Tyres1.com has it 2300, but let you know great product from fabtech, sucks putting it on, and once its on you are not taking it off. So there you go have fun with it, and good luck

I am wandering if the 863j ome shocks will fit or give me at least 4" on my 99 runner? let me know?

So after 6 months of searching, what is your plan to lift the front 4-6 inches? Surely you have found out already that beyond 3" you run into serious problems with the IFS geometry.

OME 863J are Heavy springs for an 80 series rear and lift it ~ 4". What web page have you been searching?? You do not want a drop bracket lift, waste of time, $ and will decrease the value of your truck because you can never go back (without major work)

If you really need more than 3" of lift then run the 1" or 2" BL with it. Then your set.

The 863j coils have a spring rate of 250#. That is pretty stiff.
I'm running the 861 (220#) and with my weight they carry my weight and compress completely.
 
The whole point of drop bracket lifts is going higher than 3" and maintaining the geometry of the stock ifs. By definition you are increasing the distance between the differential and the vehicle without extreme cv angles. You gain clearance for larger tires, thus gaining ground clearance (although minimal ) but no gain in suspension travel or flex. I had an 89 toyota pickup with a pro comp 4" lift and 33x12.50 tires. I loved that truck and kick myself all the time for selling it. It went everywhere I wanted to go but I was never under the impression it was an extreme crawler. I'm in the same boat as knightknight, I have a 98 t4r that I want to lift 5" but I dont want a 2" body lift. I've been considering the tuff country 5" front, new uca's with toytec coilovers (set @ stock height) with land cruiser coils and 1" spacer in the rear along with toytecs complete rear adjustable dom link kit. $$$ I know , sounds expensive but I think it would kick ass. I don't do any "rock crawling" just medium trails and lots of time here at the Oregon Dunes. I know my 89 did really well in the sand with it's setup so I know the 4runner with it's larger v6 and super charger will be fun. The only thing holding me back is what was said earlier, when you go with a bracket lift you can't go back!

Is installing a front control arm drop really that irreversible? If you use a LCA drop bracket could you continue to use the stock control arms? Very good start for a thread but it turned dead. Has anyone installed tacoma LCA drop on a 4runner? I have fpund no evidence of a 3rd gen Runner with an LCA drop.

Your google-fu is weak. There are tons of 4Runners with drop bracket lifts out there - just not many on this site.

You have to cut out the crossmember that holds the steering rack to install a bracket lift, that's the irreversible part.
