Subtle Lift: Recommendations?

The 3/4 top out spacer levels the 5th gen 4runner nicely. I think I will do this immediately after I buy mine and also buy bigger tires.

The Toytec top plate spacers are 1/2". I haven't measured the before-and-after heights, though. I was only interested in visually leveling out the front, and the spacers accomplished it for me (as seen in the photo I posted). :)

Thank you
Mike

I'm considering the toytec spacers (1/2 vs 3/4 is still a question). Also don't have the cash on hand for the 5100's. Is there any down side to the top plate spacers?

There is no 3/4 the spacer is 1/2 thick and is supposed to yield approximately 3/4 of lift but it gives more like an 1 1/4. There is no downside in my opinion I ran these on my 04 sr5 for like 2 years didn't have any problem

Thanks hamiltonj2wl for the clarification. Couple more questions - is a front end alignment required/recommended after installation of the spacers? What should I be looking at cost wise for the installation? I spoke to a local shop (recommended by a coworker) and he said if I had the spacers I could expect right under $300 for installation and alignment. He had not done any '10 or '11 4runners and his supplier did not have spacers for 4runners. Sound right? Is the installation for the 5100's and spacers about the same?

Thanks.

I found a great reputable shop to do my front Billies with an alignment for $150 so shop around if you wanna save some money. I doubt the spacer install and alignment should be any more expensive.

Anyone got the front and rear billies with the 10% rear Toytec springs? Any reviews? I'm gonna go with this or the 3/2 spacer/spring setup by Toytec. Thoughts?

A front end alignment will need to be done 300 is pretty close I paid 275ish to have mine done. The limited's cost more and some people won't do it because of the xreas (just in case you have a limited). The spacers are alittle more labor intensive then the 5100's because the factory studs need to be removed and the toytec studs have to be installed.

I would think ome 883's up front and ome 895E rear would be a nice way to go as well? Would give you 1.5 inches all the way around you could use stock shocks and struts all the way around as well. There is pics of this setup second to last page of the lifted sticky username firefighter emt

I don't know how to put a link in for this, but if you search "no spring compressor" you can find a link from another forum that shows you how to install the top spacers without a spring compressor. I just ordered a set, and I will be using this method which seems to be easier and safer than using a compressor. Can't wait to try it...:bluejump:

Thanks. So you save some on the spacer over the 5100's but the installation brings them installed a little closer in overall price. One vs the other what's the better option? The front nose dive doesn't bother me as much as it did a couple months ago.

Appreciate the info/advice.

I don't have any experience with the 5100's so I can't really say either way I did the spacers because I knew I was going to lift it eventually and those are part of the kit anyway was my reasoning and it makes it still ride like stock with just the spacers

The 5100's will help reduce the nose dive a lot and provide better handling, but I've never heard anyone say they felt like the ride improved after adding spacers. Maybe I'm wrong though...

I think changing from the stock tires to the Destination A/Ts has had a positive impact in terms of overall handling and feel (not to mention looks). No more "bouncy" along feel - feels more solid. The nose dive did bother me a good bit at first (and alarmed my passengers), but I've adjusted my braking habits. I'm looking really for the less expensive way to get that nose up and level it out. Both the 5100's and spacers look like they achieve the leveling (seen some great pics on this forum). Looks like if I go the spacer route its important to look for the less expensive install and alignment cost to keep it under the cost of the Bilsteins.

What part of Texas are you in. If you have an SR5 ,it's super easy to do yourself or I could show you how .Safest to take the whole front coil over to a shop, like 4wheel drive parts or pepboys, that has a wall spring compressor after you take them off . Front end alignments are about $50 around here.

I had put a 1 inch Toytec spacer in my fronts before and it translated to 1 3/4 inch lift. It's the aluminum spacer that Toytec has listed for a 2 inch lift but's it's actually 1 inch thick.

Remember if you buy a spacer say like a 1/2" spacer it will give you 1" of lift or a 3/4" spacer will give you 1 1/2" of lift. Topout spacers always double the lift. I would go with a 3/4" on mine . Just my personal opinion.

Does anyone have a side view of a 4Runner with a top-out spacer thicker than 1/2 inch?

Someone Clarify: Can you get these spacers in two sizes or do the top-out spacers only come in 1/2 inch (which provides 3/4" of lift)?

I just had 5100's installed, front & rear. Had the adjustment clip set in the second (.85) ring. I got almost 1.25" front lift and it looks nearly level, very slight rake.

The nose dive (ride spongyness) is reduced noticably, and the overall ride is noticably firmer, but by no means hard.

I got 3 things fixed all at once that annoyed me.
