T-Case wont disengage 4wd?

Wanted to know if anyone else has had this problem. I got into the truck few minutes ago and its in 4wd and I cant get it(handsome Rob) to go 2wd. Tried running it up to 4lo and 4lo w/locker wo/locker back up 25, 50, 100, 200 feet still Handsome Rob is stuck in 4wd. The dash light keeps blinking if that makes any difference, but it is in 4wd. Any thought would be super cool and much appreciated.

Yeah, I'm curious about this as well. I've searched the forums a couple years back when mine started doing this and there are a few threads on it. It can be any number of things and I didn't pursue it further because my workaround is pretty simple on my truck.

I can just depress the 4wd button (on the side of the 4wd shifter knob), turn off my engine, and have it disengage when I re-start and drive a short distance. I know not everyone's disengages like that, but it might be worth a shot. Just note that (if it works for you) after you start the car again, the 4wd light will still be on but it will disengage and turn the light off after rolling forward a few feet.

My mechanic said he's had success in getting underneath 4runners with similar issues and have the 4wd engaged, but the button disengaged, then tapping the part on the t-case that engages/disengages the 4wd with a hammer. I haven't tried it yet, but I might this winter because it's really nice to just be able to push a button to turn it on and off in the variable mountain conditions of Colorado.

I'm subscribing though to see if anyone has anything new on this one.

I did try the button then cycle the ecu with no luck, tried just cycling the entire system(power on-off so many times). I did put it in the dirt parking lot next to our office and played musical button, back up and sht this is seaming more and more like only a couple things cause the usual fixes wasn't working. But I did get figured out its stuck in 4h Locked not Awd. And the first week in August I was up in the Medicine Bow range west of Laramie, WY and 4wd worked fine.

But I did find out it was the ADD on the front axle but its a mute point just got in a total it out wreck an hour ago so she may be needing more love then a sensor.

I believe I just read a similar post a couple days ago where the OP had an issue with 4WD engaging. The response was to turn the wheel while moving forward/backward to get the T-case to make the switch.

If my memory serves me right, it was a right turn to engage the4WD, and a left turn to disengage.

Hopefully my memory serves me right..... because typically that is not the case. lol!
