After countless e-mail and dealer complaints they finally issue the TSB!
Thanks so much Lou for the research work on getting the TSB to the forum.

I bought a set of practically new headlamps from forum member UFG8R Runners 2012 just to change out the lenses on my 2010 as mine were embarrassingly fogged.

I retrofitted mine with HID's and didn't want to start over so I just changed out the lenses a couple of months back. I put my old fogged lenses on his light housings so I should be able to just trade them out for brand new updated ones and keep as spares or sell them.

BTW..... The 2012 lenses are holding up much better and are so crystal clear when polished up.

Hmmm. Man...I have a 2012 and now I'm wondering if the spare set of headlight assemblies I purchased for my projector retro-fit were the "new" style assemblies. That would really suck if they aren't. Oh well. I guess the worst case scenario is I swap out my original set's lenses onto the retro-fitted assemblies.

That's where you guys come in... I won't be able to find out for a while unless I can get Jemima's babysitter to take her in. Last look she was at 36573mi.
 
just talked to the local dealer here, and he said as long as its under 3yr/36k it should be "no problem", when i asked if it was covered under warranty. i'm sure though with enough pressure, they will cover it on all 5th gens.

Yes it "should". My dealer was going to swap them out for me months ago before the TSB was issued but I wanted to wait till after the winter, then I just got lazy and forgot about it.
 
I retrofitted 2011 TE headlights in Nov 2011 which replaced my 2010 LE headlights that had this oxidation issue. I've been using Wolfgang Plastik Sealant on my retrofitted headlights since I got them and the oxidation hasn't occurred. I may have received the "fixed" headlights but don't know for sure so I'll continue to use Wolfgang's sealant.

Good find for those who can take advantage of this TSB.
 
Nice....I just got mine done but glad their is a tsb now. We should have a sticky for all the 5th tsbs.......
 
Good to see the issue is fixed. I have 7yrs, 75k, so I'll probably take mine in toward that timing since they aren't too bad at this point. Since they are plastic lenses, I'd rather get 5 years out of the originals and have brand new ones at 5 years instead of having brand new at 2 years. (I intend on having my 4Runner for 15+ years...)
