T4Tools Build Thread

The plan is a ground up military inspired concept truck using only the frame and firewall. I want it to look like something toyota made themselves. It'll be easier since I'll have this one for a daily driver and can go crazy with it. Being modular has been a limiting factor.

Finally took the truck wheeling. Got together with over 30 trucks, then 18 of us hit the trails. It was an awesome weekend and all that broke was the monitor for the backup cameras. That and a water jug leaked and flooded the back. So next on the list is secure tie downs for stuff inside.

Great job, very nice build. I actually registered just to say good job LOL.

Quick questions, what are you using to paint it? Thats an awesome color and looks really mil spec. Are you using powder coat, or spray paint from a can?

That's awesome.

The paint I'm using is krylon camouflage paint. It's in most walmart stores. The trick is a good automotive grey primer. I'm using khaki since it's more grey to match the silver factory paint. The first truck I built like this used sand color since that truck was the brown-silver factory color and sand has more brown in it.

Thanks for the kind words, you're motivating me to start the front bumper right away.

Decided to paint the rear quarter panels. I plan to incorporate a vertical stripe or shape to transfer to the silver color. Can't get myself to paint the whole truck yet. I'm thinking od green or flat black or grey for the strip.

Any suggestions or pics of similar paint jobs? Looking for some ideas.

Just my opinion, but at this point I think I would just paint the entire truck the tan color. I don't think the tan and silver go together. Also, if it was all one color, your modifications would look more integrated, and not look like add-ons.
