tailgate parts needed

I have been looking for a few tailgate parts for my 87 4R...the four (4) clamps/brackets that secure the torsion bar to the tailgate and also the small plastic clip that holds the tailgate release bar to the release assembly on the window regulator. Toyota says that I have to buy the whole assemblies...$100 for the torsion bar and over $200 for the window regulator...don't need all that! Anybody got any suggestions? I've already tried TAP in CA and my trusty Toyota dealer. (brother works there and still nothin'!)

I went to my local dealership and they told me the same thing so I went to a local machine shop and gave them one of the four torsion bar brackets and they custom made me 4 new ones made out of stainless steel which will outlast the truck for about $15 each.

Were you able to utilize the brackets without the plastic spacers or did you use them? I only have two of them left. Could probably use something in place of them I imaginge. Thanks for the info.

I re-used them,I just washed them with soap and water afterwards they looked new.I guess you can use rubber bushings or even brass ones just coat them with chassis grease to reduce friction and prolong life.
