The Lean (Yeah, I Know)

To op take it back to 4wheelparts & say hey guys what's the chance you put these n backwards & can we check it out offer them a small donation see what happens , worst the say is no & then you go hardball ? Ask them to measure or take a look .

Alright, so some vindication for me, however, I think this is going to turn into a headache. So I checked the Toyota dealer closest to my work at lunch on a whim, and they had a 2015 4x2 SR5 Premium. Go and take a look at it, and sure enough, the white/red is on the driver's side, and white/yellow is on passenger side. So mine is messed up.

Call up 4wheelparts. Guess it's been a little longer than I thought since they did the work (roughly 8 months - time flies). But the guys is treating me like, "so what do you want us to do?". I say I need to have them switched and have the alignment done. He says he's going to talk to his service guy and manager and call me back.

What does it matter if it was 3 months or 8 months. It was done wrong. I knew this wasn't going to be easy and that's why I wanted to find out for sure before.

EDIT: Ok, they just called me back and scheduled me for a couple Wednesdays from today (3/4/15). I can't imagine they're going to have me come in and then try to charge me for something they did wrong. His tone was a little better when he called back. We shall see. But at least I figured it out.

Alright, so I took the truck in to 4 wheel yesterday to get the front springs flipped to their correct sides and get realigned. Again, they were asking me why I notice now and what made me notice. Does that matter? I asked for my alignment printout and they said printer was broke. Guy says, "you want it so you can go on forums huh? They're all wrong on there about specs." Whatever. I just wanted to know what they did.

Is the lean gone?

To me, it definitely seems better in the front. To my surprise, it seems to handle way better as well. Alignment is a lot better. Not sure if it's just the guy who did it or cause of the springs. Lean maybe slightly there in the rear, but I'll throw a trim spacer at some point on drivers side.

Also glad you got it straight....so now we know coils #'s are definitely different on 2WD side vs 4WD's side.
Who would have thought that?!?!?

And of course no-one on the forums knows the proper specs of an alignment.....coming from the shop that put your coils on the opposite side they belonged on!

Saker you wouldn't believe where mine are & no not telling it's OFF big time but rolls straight & so is the steering wheel . (caster driver's side 1.7 pass 2.5) dammit

Yeah, I wanted so bad to say something, but I just wanted to get out of there. I won't be going back to the Santa Ana store again. Not impressed with service.

Ok SoCal, this is what I have :
Drivers side: 8 Coils, coil dia in thousands: .648

Pass side: 9 Coils, coil dia in thousands: .676

Maybe there is more actual weight on the passenger side and that's why there are more coils and a larger dia spring coil.
I don't know this as fact, but is something to think about!

I found it!

on MY truck, my Passenger side FRONT is .5" lower and my Passenger side REAR is 1" lower. it seems some of you or most of you have the driver side as being lower, but mine seems to be opposite. so i'm gonna buy the 1/4" spacer for my passenger side upfront and the ome 10mm "fj" trim packer (it says FJ on the toytec site) and place that in the Passenger Rear to hopefully level mine. i didn't really notice it much until friends pointed it out LOL

how did this pan out? my 2014 with KDSS also leans very close to this amount on the right sides.
For reference I have:
Old Man Emu 3" Suspension System for 2010+ Toyota 4Runner ARB2884, ARB2885, ARB2887, ARB90010-ARB90010-ARBOME661-ARBOME95PF5-ARB2884-ARB2889-ARB60080
Select Front Springs:
1 x #2884 Light Load Coil Springs ARB2884
Select Front Shocks:
2 x #ARB90010 Nitrocharger Sport Strut ARB90010
Select Rear Springs:
1 x #2889 Medium Load Coil Springs (200-400LBS) ARB2889
Select Rear Shocks:
2 x #ARB60080 Nitrocharger Sport Shock ARB60080
Add Optional Accessories:
1 x #OME661 Rear Shock Stone Guard ARBOME661
1 x #OME95PF5 5MM Trim Spacer

Resurrecting this question.

Hey everyone, I have been pouring trough all the forums I can find on driver-side lean but can’t find anyone who confirmed that they did not have a lean prior to the lift.

The is actually my first post on any 4Runner forum and I am getting ready to put 5100s, OME 884s and 2” Superflex coils on our 2008 4x4 v6. I just measured it and it is dead level right to left. I’m afraid of adding a 0.25” spacer to the driver side when it would otherwise be level.

Have you or anyone on here confirmed that they were level prior to a lift and ended up with a lean?

Thanks!

Hey. See my prior post you can see exactly my setup. With the OME spacer on the drivers side I had terrible lean to the right, drivers side was very high. I’ve since removed the spacer and the truck is nearly level with maybe a tiny slight lean to the right but nothing I care about.

Wheelers Offroad told me the OEM coil springs are different driver's side vs passenger. When you lift it the aftermarket springs are the same so the lean will be noticeable. I installed the spacer front and trim packer on the rear of the driver's side and mine sits pretty level.

I also checked and confirmed that the OEM springs are side-specific but I am leaning (pun intended) more toward not putting a spacer. My thinking that I can always do it later and would rather favor loading one side of the truck if it means having equal preload on both sides.

Gunkl, you didn’t happen to measure your stance prior to you lift did you?

Thanks for the input! I’ll update when I get around to buying and installing my upgrade.
