I know that the 48” seems to be the most popular, but, that did not fit my layout as well as the 42”. It was obvious that the mount was intended to be used longitudinally once I got it up there. Just seems that they would/could have an adapter to mount it transverse to that, especially with their wide bar. I’ve got some good ideas that will maintain rigidity and my placement. And yes, I can probably try rotating the mount 90 degrees to line up with the slot, Although, I’m not as comfortable with the fore-aft stresses on the bolts in that position with the moment exerted by the weight of the jack.As [MENTION=73851]007Tacoma[/MENTION] said, they are intended to hold the jack front/back... I've used the mounts to hold the jack in a few different positions on my full length rack (and even in the bed channels of my Tundra), but now on the 4Runner it lives on the rear bumper.
Also, I hope the 42" works well for whatever your need is. After the first hands on class time with my 48", I got home and ordered the 60"
