You're not the bearer of bad news...you're the bearer of irrelevant news. See, those are threads petitioning a manufacturer that doesn't listen.

I don't know what you are smoking, but a manual transmission and S mode are two totally different things.

On trail or road? Big difference in daily driving yes, off road, 1st low, 2nd al little higher, etc... Not so much.
If you just want to have that tactile attachment to the vehicle on your daily commute, you got me. On the trail though you sure want to have more control, unless it's an easy area and flop back in auto which does not allow for the tactile response.
Stick purist and the tactile attachment to the ride? No, like I said, you got me. I've had sticks and miss it from time to time. Control on trail? Well... I can prove clean and green on that one.

We will agree to disagree. Manual for me, is the only way to go off-roading. I have the most control in that situation.

I want a "deleted" model.

No electronic 4WD aides, except a rear locker
Comes "leveled" from factory
Black steelies
MT as an option
Drum brakes in back
No infotainment, no LCD, no cameras
Base 4 speaker stereo with just an AUX jack. No sat radio
5 passenger seating, cloth manual seats. Back seats can be easily removed from vehicle and can be sold as an option
No sliding cargo tray or other crap
Manual windows
Manual mirrors
No sunroof
No carpet, plastic floors all over
Manual door locks
Lightweight liftgate with no sliding window and a swing away spare carrier
Plastic bumpers
No foglights
No tint in back
Dump the FJ Cruiser, make an FJ bare-bones spec 4Runner, essentially.

Then you need to buy a Mahindra or Jeep. Toyota (and the rest of the large OEMs) has a business model that they will not deviate from. They make no money on a stripped model at all. In addition to that, They would sell about 10 of those stripped models if they offered it. The market as a whole demands certain options. You are in a teeny tiny minority and they all post here.
Our local dealership sells about 15 4Runners a month. We have a lot of them running around here and most are LE's or loaded SR5's. Very few trails or stripped SR5's. And this area is one where people actually use their 4WD's for what they are intended and not much mall crawling or status symbols. Point is even with this local demographic most like to go anywhere in luxury. I am in your camp but it will never happen, at least in North America.

They do make "stripper" Tacomas and there was a ultrahardtofind "base" model FJ Cruiser that nearly checked off all the boxes that they sold a few hundred of.
If 4Runner production shifted over to America in the near future and they began to more closely amalgamate the 4Runner and Taco I don't see why they wouldn't replace the FJC with an entry-level 4Runner that appeals to the same folk that buy a Jeep with no A/C.
But I do see your point, Toyota isn't that kind of company in the US.

I'm following you on everything but the "leveled from the factory". I would think a utility vehicle would be better equipped with some compensation for towing and heavier loads. I also think the sliding rear window has legitimate utility value.
